chapter 11 Turtle Hermit Way

Last time Goku and Krillin found the innocent looking Launch and saved her from the police. They brought her back to master roshi and saw her bad side.

Now it's been two days since Goku and Krillin brought back Launch and on the first day Master Roshi with his new students did a series of tests to see their level at a nearby island. Dakon and Arame proved to be the fastest one there. Goku being the third fastest and Krillin the slowest.

For his next test he only had goku and Krillin participants and had dakon and Arame go to the side to meditate since it's goku and Krillin who needs the most help and given more experience. Roshi picks up a stone, marks it and throws it out into the forest. He tells them that anyone can throw a stone, just like anyone can throw a punch. To find the stone one must have a focused mind and a calm spirit.

The one who doesn't find the stone will go without dinner. Dakon and Arame understood what his test was and its purpose soon went back to meditating. Goku and Krillin kinda understood it and both went looking for the marked stone. After a while goku found it but Krillin tried to trick him to get the stone but goku didn't fall for it.

That night Krillin went without dinner and they happily ate.

Before the rooster's first call on the second day, the boys and Arame had begun their intensive physical training under Master Roshi's expert gaze. Their first task is to deliver the 4:30 AM shipment of milk around the island with dakon, goku and Arame wearing weighted Turtle shells.

Normally this is done by helicopter, but as they soon learned, convenience is not the M.O. of Turtle Hermit Training! They zigzagged through orchards to test agility. They struggled up mountain steps to test endurance which Krillin didn't have much of and they teetered over dangerous canyons to test their balance.

The training was hard and will only get harder, but as any warrior knows, it's important to keep moving. Especially when there's a T-Rex on your heels! In a few short months, the world's fiercest warriors will gather together at the world martial arts tournament.

"I just barely made it." Goku said panting heavily laying on the ground with Krillin and Krillin groaned out, "I'm glad we're done." While both panting heavily on the ground, Dakon and Arame are standing near them breathing heavily looking at them shaking their heads.

"What's that you say?" Master roshi said looking at goku and Krillin. "He's glad we're done." Goku said in between breaths and Krillin clarified, "With today's training, I mean." Roshi looked down on them, a little displeased.

"Oh please! That run was only early morning exercise!!" Roshi said, leaning forward. Both Goku and Krillin groan at that statement while dakon speaks up.

"C'mon guys it's not that bad and especially if you want to get stronger." He said, calming his breath with Arame nodding agreeing.

Goku and Krillin stand up and go to stand with dakon. They look to roshi to explain the next step to their training. "Now it's time for mid-morning exercises! You're gonna try your hands at agriculture! For that man over there!" Master roshi said, turning to point at a farmer with his cane.

They look at the farmer and see Roshi run over to him and start talking to him. "Of course Master Roshi! Sure, that's fine." The farmer said.

Thanks. They'll be so happy. Come on boys and Arame! Time to get dirty!!" Roshi said, calling them over. "First we're the milk men and now we're stinkin' farmers. We never did this at Orin Temple!" Krillin said, complaining as they ran to the farmer and master roshi.

"Think I'll just supervise." The farmer said sitting down wiping away his sweat. "Hold on there! Don't use the tools!" Master roshi said.

"Huh?" Goku and Krillin both said, confused while dakon and Arame listen for what next. "This exercise is for the strength and dexterity of your hands, so of course it won't work unless it's done bare-handed!" Master roshi said, shocking them but dakon and Arame are not too surprised.
