Early that morning, Rose was awake before everyone else. She sat on the nook that let her look outside.

She was scared that the CDC would not still be standing. What would they do then?

A few hours later, there was a knock at the door. Rose got up and opened it. She saw Deanna standing there with a smile on her face.

--Rose's Point of View--

"Good morning, Mrs. Dixon." Deanna smiled.

I smiled back to return the gesture, "What can I help you with?"

"I was able to get you a small bus. I am aware that you are taking a few people on your trip back to Georgia." She paused, looking to see if anyone else was awake. "I was able to get you enough food for a week, the trip takes about nine hours, but you should be able to get back there in five days."

"Thank you. We'll repay you somehow."

"No need to worry about that, a cure for this disease is more than enough. When will you be leaving?"

"Rick decided that we should leave around noon to get a head start. Everyone is ready to go."

"Well, that settles it. See you all before you go." Deanna turned, walking back to her house.

I closed the front door and let out a small sigh.

--

"Everything's ready," Rick stated.

"We'll see you soon." Beth said to her sister.

"You guys stay safe. Channel two is always open." Rick said to us as we got onto the bus.

As I was getting onto the bus, Deanna started walking towards me. She handed me a letter. "As soon as you find a cure, this is all of our town residents. I want to make sure they have the priority for getting the vaccine."

I took the letter and gave her a nod. Who even knew if we were going to find a cure, this could all be a dead end.

"Let us get this show on the road." Abraham called out.

That was my cue to get on the bus. I made my way to where Daryl was sitting. Jacob wanted to sit next to Beth so they could play. The bus lurched forward then they opened the gate for us. It was going to be a long trip. I looked at Daryl, who was staring at me.

"Get some sleep. I'll wake you up if anything happens."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, Rose."

I leaned back and closed my eyes, letting sleep take over my body.

"George." I laughed. We walked back from the diner to the auto repair shop to get my car.

"R, you need to be more careful!" He laughed harder next to me, nudging my shoulder with his.

"Thanks for the warning!" I said.

We walked into the repair shop and saw the bald man. He gave me a wink before going back to the car he was fixing. We walked a little further to find Daryl, who had my car fixed up.

"Thank you, how much do I owe you?"

"Nothing. It's on the house."

"Daryl, I can't accept this. I have to owe you something."

"I insist, miss. You're new to town. If you know anyone that needs a car fixed, send em' my way." His southern accent stuck out as he talked.

"I will. Thank you again."
