Once again, I woke up, and Jacob wasn't there. This seemed like it was a consistent thing, which I didn't like. I changed into something clean then went to the common area, where I saw Jacob sitting with his father.

Jacob ran up, hugging my legs, "Good morning!" He yelled, running back to his father.

I smiled, looking around. "Where is everyone?"

"Rick, Carl, and Michonne left late last night. They should be back later." Carol said as she walked into the kitchen.

I nodded and walked into the courtyard. I finally took in how much room the prison actually had. I walked to Maggie and asked how I could help out.

They made me work the fence in the blazing sun, which was a lot. It didn't take me long to finish my section since the walkers were behind the fence. They came to me.

I didn't want to stop. I wanted to help out and earn my place in this little community. I helped Hershel's second youngest. Beth Greene.

As we killed the walkers at the fence, Beth and I talked for a few hours as we killed the walkers, she asked me about Jacob and Daryl. By the time we were done, I could tell she had a crush on him, but it wouldn't go anywhere because she is still young.

Soon we went into the prison, and I scrunched my nose up in disgust. I asked where the bathroom was because I smelled like a walker's guts.

Since I was able to take showers over the past year, it felt weird not being able to take one since I had been there.

I stood under the shower, letting the water wash away all of the nasty smell, blood, and guts. As I stood there, I began to think about how much Jacob and I have been through. I shook my head trying to finish my shower.

I soon stood in front of the mirror, taking in my appearance. There were small noticeable changes.

My jaw was sharper, and my eyes hadn't lost the light that was once in them. My cheekbones stood out the thing I didn't like was I could see my ribs. But what could I do? It was the apocalypse.

I ran my fingers over the tattoo on my hip and thigh it was something that I got when I was young, my parents didn't seem to mind, and I got even more when I turned eighteen.

The one on my thigh was of flowers with snakes going through it. The next was just under my breast it was a branch with a set of flowers. It was the only one that was in color. The final tattoo I had was just behind my ear it was a small flower.

I really like flowers. They symbolized, how something could die and be reborn again into something beautiful.

I finally heard someone knock at the door asking if anyone was in the bathroom, telling whoever it was to give me one second.

I threw on some undergarments, then put on a black shirt, jean shorts, I tied my flannel then put on my combat boots. I walked out of the bathroom, smiling at Carol on my way to the common area.

Once again, I felt arms wrap around my legs, "Mommy!" The boy shouted as I scooped him up kissing his forehead.

"How's my Munchkin?" I set him down.

"I good." He said.

"I'm good, not I." I corrected. "What did you do today?" I went to get some food, Jacob following behind me.

"I helped daddy!" He was happy. I hummed, wanting to know what they did. I grabbed some food for both of us and sat down at the table, Jacob climbed up on the spot next to me.

"We worked on his bike, he says it's loud Momma. Daddy said that he would take me on a ride!" He smiled as he ate his food.

"Is that right?" I smiled at the boy, as the older Dixon entered the room.

"That's right. If you don't mind me taking em'" Daryl said, almost seeing if I would disagree with him.

"No, that sounds fine," I answered, finishing my food.

He sat across from Jacob and I. "We need to go on a run after Rick gets back. Little ass-kicker."

I just nodded. We sat there in peace until Rick got back. They were carrying some stuff. Daryl told them where we were going, then I heard Jacob ask the question I dreaded.

"Can I come, Momma?" He asked. I shook my head, looking at the boy.

"Why not?" He pushed.

"You might get hurt, there-" I was cut off by Daryl.

"He can go, Rose." He said. This caused my mouth to drop as I looked at him.

"He can't go. It's dangerous." I contradicted.

"It isn't your call. It's mine." Daryl's voice rose.

This made me pause and look at the older Dixon. Would he really risk taking him out? "And what happens if we run into a horde?"

"I'll do everything in my power to protect him." Daryl looked at me.

"Fine, he can go." I had a feeling that I was going to regret this. I looked down at Jacob with a smile on my face, "Go say bye to everyone while I get our stuff packed."

Jacob ran off to say goodbye to everyone while I went to our room to pack a small bag, not knowing if we would be back that night or not.

I walked down the gravel to where Daryl was waiting at his bike. Jacob was next to him waiting, I got on behind him then picked up my small boy placing him between us so that he was safe.

Maggie opened the gates, and Daryl revved his engine, driving forward past the walkers that were on the other side of the gate.

And we were off.

And we were off
