As we made our way out of the house, I visited Amelias' grave for what could be the final time. I told her that we would be ok, and we would stay strong.

I took a hold of Jacob's hand, leaving the small community behind. The other held a knife in case any walker decided to come out of the woods.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jacob looking at me, "What's up Munchkin?" I asked.

"Where are we going?" He asked.

"Well, there's a town called Woodbury. It shouldn't take us that long to get there. If we had a car it would be much faster." I replied.

"Why are we going to Woodbury?" Jacob averted his eyes to the woods.

"Your dad might be there." I looked forward and nothing else was said between us for about an hour.

Suddenly Jacob spoke up, "Car!" He had a huge grin on his face.

"Good eye, let's go see if it can start." I said, he led the way to the car, I stayed close making sure there were no walkers.

I grabbed onto the handle, giving it a small tug. It wouldn't budge, the car was locked. Suddenly a man came out of nowhere.

"Hands up, drop your weapons!" His voice sounded strong as if he's done this before.

I turned to push Jacob behind me, out of the man's sight. "Please, we don't mean any harm. I'm just trying to get us somewhere safe." I said, my voice was strong as I was trying to show no weakness to the man.

"I said, drop your weapon now!" He yelled, this caused me to drop my knife. "Your gun, as well." He said.

"I don't have a gun." I said, meeting his eyes. I dropped my bow, beside my knife.

It looked as if the man didn't believe me. "Turn to the car, legs spread, hands on the hood." He said I did as I was told.

He came over and patted me down, I expected him to touch me weirdly, but he didn't. He told me to turn back around, as soon as I did he handed me both my knife and bow, calling out to his friends that were in the woods.

"My name's Rick Grimes. This is Michonne." He pointed to a black lady with a katana. "That's Maggie." He pointed to a pretty lady with brown hair, then he finally pointed to a man that looked pretty beat up. "That's Glenn."

"I'm Rose Stewart and this is Jacob," I said, Jacob peaked out and waved to everyone.

"Sorry for all of that, we can't be too careful nowadays." Rick said, then asked. "Where y'all headed?" His country accent sticking out.

"We are going to Woodbury-" I didn't get to finish my sentence because I was interrupted.

"You can't go there. They did this to me, they made my wife strip! They made her feel terrible!" Glenn cried out, holding his ribs as pain shot up his side. Maggie rushed over helping him into the car so he could rest.

"Where would we go?" I asked, my voice just above a whisper.

Rick heard, "We have a prison, it has food, walls, people. It's safe. I have to ask you three questions though."

I nodded allowing him to ask the questions.

"First, how many walkers have you killed?" He asked.

"Too many to count." I answered.

He went to his next question seeming satisfied with my answer.

"How many people have you killed?"

"One." I answered truthfully, looking up at him.

"Why?" He asked, shifting a bit as he looked at me.

"She was bit, and she didn't want to turn." I said, my voice breaking a little at the end. I felt a little hand slide into mine, I looked down and gave a sad smile.

Rick looked back at Maggie and she nodded, he finally looked back at me. "You both can come."

He took our bags from us, and I sat next to the window with Jacob on my lap.

"Take a nap, Munchkin. We'll be somewhere safe in a little bit." I said, running my hands through his hair.

It didn't take long for him to fall asleep, it took only around forty-five minutes to arrive at the prison.

I held Jacob as we walked into the cell block, many people stared as I walked past. "Everyone, this is Rose and her son Jacob." Rick called out. Everyone either said hello or gave a small nod.

I grabbed Ricks' arm before he could leave, "Where can I put him?" I asked. He motioned for me to follow and I did.

Rick led me into a cell, where I laid Jacob on the cot. I placed a kiss on his forehead and we left the cell.

"Thank you for bringing us here," I said, looking at the man.

"If I was in your position, I'd want you to do the same thing. Can I ask what happened to Jacob's father?" Rick asked.

We walked into the room they were using to eat and sat down at the table. "Jacob, he isn't mine, biologically. Mentally he is, when he gets scared he calls me mommy. I would do anything for the little boy."

I paused, looking around. "I raised him for two years, taught him to read, write and tie his shoes." I smiled at all the memories.

"What's his last name Rose?" Rick asked.

"Dixon." I said.

This made him looked shocked, "His fathers' name?" He said.

"Don't know, he never told me." I said.

Rick nodded at these words.

Later that day, Jacob asked if he could go play with Carl in the field. I wanted to say no since I didn't fully trust this place yet. But he gave me the infamous puppy dog eyes and I agreed.

I stood at the fence and watched the pair play, Carl came in not too long after, then Hershel went out to talk to Jacob.

I walked back inside, I felt safe even though I didn't trust everyone just yet. I was helping a lady named Carol make a list of everything they had when I heard a lot of yelling and a loud crash. I could only make out one word they were saying.

Walkers.
