My heart stopped as soon as I heard that word. Jacob was still in the field. I raced out of the cellblock, I saw my little boy fighting to get out of the dead's grip.

Within seconds I was halfway across the field, I tried to go fast but I couldn't. I wasn't going to make it, I reached for my bow. But it wasn't there, I remembered it was in the cell where Jacob was sleeping.

This couldn't be how I lost him, this couldn't be the day. As the walker was about to take a chunk out of his arm, an arrow whizzed past and landed in the middle of the dead's skull.

I looked around to see where it came from, an archer was helping Hershel into the cell block, he stopped giving a small nod to me.

I picked Jacob up and ran back to the cell block, the boy clutched onto my shirt letting out sobs, as he couldn't control it.

I set him on the table, looking over every inch of his bare skin. There was no bite. I sighed and pulled him back into my hold.

"I'm sorry I wasn't fast enough. I promise to never leave you again." I rubbed his back, trying to get him to stop crying and calm down so he wouldn't make himself sick.

There was a bunch of yelling in the lunch area, so I decided to go see what was happening. By this time, Jacob calmed down but was still sniffling from time to time.

I walked into the lunch area and saw the archer and a man with a metal arm. They were yelling about if he could stay or not.

I didn't want to be apart of this conversation so I turned around and begun to walk into the cell block but stopped when I heard the man talk.

"Stop!" A mans' voice called out, I felt a hand wrap around my shoulder turning me around.

"What are you doin' with my nephew?!" He glared me down.

This caused everyone to become silent. "That's Daryl?" I asked.

The archer looked at his brother bewildered, saying slowly, "That ain't Jacob. Jacob turned. I had to put em' down."

Rick spoke up, "That's Jacob, Daryl. The woman has been taking care of him for three years."

Daryl looked confused as he took a step forward to get a better look at the boy. Jacob raised his head looking back at the archer. He looked as if he recognized the man that was standing not even three feet from him.

"Is it 'em?" Daryl asked looking me in the eyes.

I nodded and he walked forward, taking the boy from my arms. Jacob looked a little startled not being in my grasp but didn't say anything.

I was happy that we found him, but I was upset that he would be with his father most days. I didn't want to leave him. I still wanted to wake up every day with him jumping on me, I still wanted him to call me mommy and ask me to read him bedtime stories.

Jacob let out a loud cry, trying to get out of Daryl's arms. This made Daryl frown.

"You don't remember me?" Daryl asked as his eyes started to water.

Jacob shook his head, his nose scrunched as he was still trying to get out of his arms.

I could tell that he was lying. His nose scrunched when he would lie, stepping forward I told Jacob back into my arms. He almost immediately hid his head in my chest and clutched onto my shirt.

Everyone stood there completely astonished at what just happened.

This made Daryl mad, "What the hell you looking at!" He yelled.

This caused people to look away, most went to the cell block and others got something to eat. I stood there with the boy in my arms, looking at his father that he didn't want to talk to.

"He'll remember you. He hasn't seen you in almost three years, you have to remember that." Rick said, with his hand on Daryl's chest.

Later that night, I laid with Jacob on a cot. I ran my hands through his hair whispering, "Why did you lie earlier, Munchkin?"

"Cause momma, he would've taken me away and then I wouldn't see you anymore," Jacob said then a frown upon his face.

"Jacob, he's your dad. You would still get to see me whenever you wanted, but he would take care of you." I said.

Jacob didn't say anything, he just nodded.

"Also what did I tell you about lying?" I asked.

"You said, not to lie unless it's life or death." Jacob repeated words that I said to him at one point.

"That right, now tomorrow morning we'll go talk to your dad. You'll apologize for lying to him, then you'll spend time with him. How does that sound?" I said to the sleepy boy.

"Ok, momma." He whispered.

I felt his heartbeat slowed, he finally went to sleep. I soon followed.

Little did I know, Daryl had been up listing to our conversation.

He was so grateful for someone watching over his child, he hoped that Jacob would come around and talk to him.

I shot awake that morning, not feeling the little boy in bed beside me. I looked around and got up from where I was laying. I looked outside of my cell then went to the common area, finally finding the blue-eyed boy.

He was sitting in Daryl's lap, talking about what happened yesterday, I walked back into the cellblock not wanting to interrupt the pair.

I waited for a little bit before going back in, breakfast had just started, as I walked in people said morning, some ignored and others gave small nods.

I got breakfast, sitting next to Jacob and Daryl at the table. Daryl nodded, saying good morning in his own little language. Jacob looked up from his food.

"Morning momma!" He said, rather loudly. He then climbed from Daryl's lap to mine.

"How'd you sleep, Munchkin?" I asked.

"I slept ok." Jacob said.

Soon everyone at their breakfast making small talk around the table.

Rick came in a little while later and said, "We have company."

"Good or bad?" Glenn asked.

"It's Andrea." He replied to Glenn.

I had no clue who Andrea was, but it didn't sound good.
