Pain and death seemed to follow Octavia wherever she went.
Number eight, or Octavia Hargreeves was brought into the world on October 1st 1989.
She was born in a tiny minka, in a tiny village, in a tiny part of the Japanese countryside.
Her mother was somehow not pregnant the day Octavia was born, suddenly going into labour at just sixteen years old.
The girls parents rushed to their daughter after hearing their beloveds screams, to find the sixteen year old bleeding out on the tatami mat, a newborn baby crying next to her.
A week later, Sir Reginald Hargreeves knocked on the grieving parents door, requesting legal ownership of the newborn in return for enough money that the new grandparents could go into early retirement.
A few hours later, Reginald Hargreeves sat in the back of a black taxi, gingerly holding a squirming baby.
Reginald reached for his notebook and pen, already having noticed some peculiar things about this child.
For one, when she was separated from her Grandparents, she started bawling her eyes out, as all babies would, but was soon surrounded by a black mist, and Reginald though he could just make out what sounded like distant whispering voices.
This, of course, only made the Grandparents hand her over to this strange man quicker.
They wanted any reminder of the painful death of their daughter gone.

'Interesting...' he mumbled under his breath, holding the baby tight.
At the sound of a human voice Octavia opened her eyes, revealing dark eyes looking up inquisitively at this new face.
Octavia Hargreeves was one of 43 children born on October 1st 1989 under strange circumstances.
Once Hargreeves had heard about this strange occurrence, he sought to find and adopt as many of these children as possible.
