We watch the revolving Space City tower from a far range shot, before cutting to the monitor of the sectors of space. The computer banks and trackers whine and track a new, unexplained transmission.

Lieutenant Ninety:

I am picking up a new radio transmission, emanating from deep space, sir.

Commander Zero:

Identify sector, Lieutenant. Is this something to do with these alien pods from Mars?

Lieutenant Ninety:

I'm not sure, Commander. It's transmitting from an area in which we know nothing. In one of the furthest corners of the universe. Some form of unidentified energy field. Transmitting directly to Space City, sir. The translation reads for a distress code. Imperative.

Commander Zero:

Sounds mysterious alright. Everything is getting stranger and stranger by the minute. But as we stated earlier, our job is to explore the unexplored. We still do not know everything we know about the universe. But the sooner we answer that call the sooner we can understand the code. Put Zodiac in the picture!

KABOOM! Fireball XL5 begins running along its track picking up speed hurriedly. Simple stock footage is reused. The spacecraft runs up into the sky as the ramp is thrown forward. We see footage that the opening titles display; Steve Zodiac piloting his ship, the craft zooming upwards, and the sky dimming to reveal blackness and stars from the windows of Fireball. We will hear Commander Zero's voice on the radio.

Steve Zodiac:

Fireball XL5 to Space City, leaving Earth's atmosphere. On course for transmitting energy field.

Commander Zero:

Roger, Steve. Report when you are arriving at the energy field. Good luck.

Steve Zodiac:

Thanks, Commander. Professor Matic, any further developments we've been able to find out about our energy field?

In the Navigation Bay, we see Matic in his revolving desk carefully analysing the information given to him on his scanners.

Professor Matic:

Hmm. Not much Steve. The radius of the source is expanding, strengthening the quality of transmission. It's not anything we've encountered before, mind you we have passed through strange clouds in space before. Dinorod wouldn't know the answer.

He laughs to himself.

We'll have to report this into the Space Commission when we return to Earth.

Steve Zodiac:

Ok. Very funny, Matt. What do you make of the field itself? Its origin for example.

Professor Matic:

Well, I'm not sure myself. It's not been released by say another spaceship or anything tangible as far as I can make out. Now, I know this is going to sound a little odd, Steve, but the energy displaced at Course 99 reference 1 has been, well... created.

Steve Zodiac:

A created form of energy? How is that possible? Energy is only transferred, not created.

Professor Matic:

Roger, Steve. If it can be created, the energy can also be destroyed. I find it even more fascinating how this new form of energy can transmit a signal to Space City – from the other side of the galaxy.

Steve Zodiac:

Exactly, Professor. Any idea how it was created?

Professor Matic:

Putting it in very basic terms, the energy has been able to open itself up like a portal and has rapidly grown itself. A singular atom was ripped apart in a sense to open the field.

Steve Zodiac:

Sure is mighty strange. We'll know when we get there.

We then see Fireball XL5 travel through space, heading up a descent from the bottom right of the screen to the top left...
