'Welcome Riley'

I was hanging out with my friend Rachel when my phone started to blow up. It kept ringing continuously, after one call ended another would start again. At some point I gave in and went to go grab my phone. I pick up the phone to see that its Zoey calling.

"Hello?" I say in an annoyed tone.

"Okay, I'm sorry for bothering you, but me and Katelyn were shopping, and she got some really cute stuff, and we went to the food court and she—"

"Zoey, I swear to god if you don't just tell him and drive faster, I'm going to kill you!" I hear Katelyn say in the background cutting Zoey off.

"Okay, I was getting to the good part anyway." Zoey says.

"Zoey, I will give birth in your car if you don't tell him in the next 30 seconds." I hear Katelyn again.

"No time for the story, Katelyn is probably having her baby right now and we need you to make your way to the hospital with baby things like, right now. Okay? Bye." Zoey says and my eyes widen.

"Alright bye, I'll be there as soon as I can." I say as I run into Katelyn's room to grab the hospital bag she packed, the car seat, and some clothes for myself in case I need to stay for a while.

"Ethan, where are you going?" I hear Rachel say as I start putting on my shoes.

"Shit" I say to myself. When Zoey told me that Katelyn was in labor I completely forgot that Rachel even existed.

"My sisters friend is having her baby I gotta go." I say continuing to put on my shoes.

"Is it your baby?" She asks.

"No," I say.

"Then why are you going, she isn't your problem Ethan." She says.

"Mhm, whatever you say, just please be gone by the time I get back." I reply as I grab my keys and walk out the door.

I practically run down the halls and out of the building to get to my car as quick as possible. After driving for about 15 minutes I finally made it to the hospital, and my eyes immediately search for Zoey. Luckily I see her in the waiting room and run towards her.

"How is she? Is she okay? What's going on?" I ask frantically.

"Woah, woah, calm down shes fine, they just took her in a bit ago. We can go visit her in a few minutes." She's says and I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and nod. I sit down in the chair next to Zoey, waiting for a doctor to come out and tell us we can see Kate. After waiting for 30 minutes I started to get really impatient.

"I'm gonna go ask them what's taking so long." I say as I start to get up.

"Dude chill, they'll be here any second now, you're acting like she's dying or something." Zoey says.

"Zoey Henderson?" One of the doctors call out as soon as Zoey finishes her sentence and both of us whip our heads towards the doctor.

"Yes?" Zoey says abruptly getting out of her chair and speed walking towards the doctor.

"Hi, just wanted to let you know, Katelyn is allowed to have visitors now, but not for long she'll be going into labor soon. If you want to see her she's in room 109." The doctor says and Zoey quickly thanks her and we both make our way to the room.

When we get to the door Zoey doesn't even bother knocking she just burst through the door and I follow close behind her. When we walk a little further in I can see the walls full of the doctor posters. The ones that are talking about drinking enough water and the food charts, but then I see the bed. And on the edge of the bed Katelyn is sitting on it leaning over, and she looks like she's in the worst pain in the world.
