"I wish you chose Care of magical creatures because now I'm all alone in a class with Potter!" Cassie whined to Lily on their way to their next lesson which in her case she unfortunately shared with Potter.
"Oh come on, it can't be that bad! I mean you've got Remus there" Lily said trying to lighten up the situation which wasn't really helping but it was something Cassie appreciated.
"Yeah but I don't think he wants to be In the middle of me and James' arguing" Honestly she felt bad for Remus since he was constantly trying to keep her and Potter from tearing each other apart.
"Yeah no one wants to be in the middle of that" Lily agreed knowing how bad their spats got, "I'm sorry Cass but I've really got to go"
Cassie watched Lily run down the hallway and sighed realising she was going to have to deal with James. Honestly, she was fine with Remus since she'd heard him defend her a couple times and they talked to each other when he wasn't with his friends. as she started to walk towards her CoMC class, she remembered the incident in the common room which caused her to stop in her tracks. James saw. SHE showed him. Has he told anyone? she wondered. Shaking her head she continued to walk to her class.
Unfortunately, she was a couple minutes late so she attracted the attention of her classmates.
"Nice of you to show up Miss Correlle! however, you're late which means you'll be helping me clean up at the end of this lesson" Professor Kettleburn announced.
"yes professor, I understand" she replied walking towards the corner of the group.
"As I was saying, today you will be learning how to properly differentiate Knarls from hedgehogs so gather into groups of 3," He said causing Cassie to groan. She didn't really know the people in the class and the two she knew, she did not want to work with.
As everyone was getting into 3s, Remus realised they needed one more person so as he scanned through everyone he saw Cassie trying to hide behind everyone. He turned to James.
"No way!"
"We need someone else"
"Okay, we'll find someone, just not her"
"You can be so annoying sometimes" Remus groaned "But I'm going to go work with her and if you want, you can join us" He internally smirked knowing that he had given James no choice but to work with her.
"It's at times like this, that I despise how smart you are"
"Well if you want my smartness, you'll have to deal with the side effects, plus you said you wanted to make up with her and this would be the perfect opportunity to do that"
Hearing footsteps coming her way, Cassie looked up only to see Remus and James walking towards her causing her to internally groan as she looked around hoping to see someone on their own but unfortunately everyone else was partnered up which meant she had no choice but to work with them.
"Hey, can we work with you?" Remus asked nervously.
"Yeah sure, I mean we'd have to regardless of whether I say yes or no" She shrugged.
"True, but it's best to ask first"
"You're such a gentleman Remus, I wish everyone was like you"
"You really don't, trust me" He coughed awkwardly.
"So who's that guy you were sitting with at lunch?" James asked changing the subject seeing how uncomfortable Remus looked.
"That was August, he's new here" She'd decided she would have to be civil with him so Remus wouldn't have to be in the middle of their arguments.
"He doesn't like me"
"I know but can you blame him?"
"What does that mean?"
"I mean you were a being a bit annoying at breakfast"
Just as he was about to reply, Professor Kettleburn addressed the Class,
"Now that we're all partnered up, I want someone from each group to come get a crate that contains both a hedgehog and a Knarl then you will offer them both milk, the one that accepts the milk is a hedgehog. Hedgehogs and Knarles are lactose intolerant and since Knarls are intelligent, they do not drink it"
"But Professor wouldn't the milk harm the hedgehog" Cassie asked concerned about the lesson.
"That's the specialty of magic, all the hedgehogs have been charmed so if they consume any milk in the next 18 hours, It will not harm them so there's nothing to worry about my dear" Professor Kettleburn smiled at Cassie's concern for the animal, He had been working in the school for many years and hardly any students worried about the safety of the animals.
"Suck up" James coughed
"Jealous teachers actually like me" She retorted.
"Minnie likes me"
"You mean Gally"
"We should make nicknames for the teachers!"
"That's lame Cassie"
"James doesn't think it's lame, do you?"
"No I think it's good, Sirius think about it we're basically naming our teachers!"
"Fine"
"What should we call Professor McGonogall?"
"What about Gally?" James offered
"Yes, I'm going to start calling her Gally from now on!"
"You still call her that?" He smiled
"Yeah and you stopped"
"We decided to make new nicknames after-" he stopped abruptly feeling guilty since it was after he ditched her.
"Um yeah, we decided to make new nicknames" He coughed awkwardly.
"Well that's unfortunate" she replied walking towards the crates to start the project.

"How was it then?" Lily asked Cassie as soon as she sat down at the lunch table.
"It was alright considering we didn't argue and had a civilised conversation"
"Cassiopeia Corelle and James Potter had a civilised conversation! Everything is wrong in the world!" Marlene dramatised fainting onto the table.
"It's not a big deal" She shrugged "We'll probably be arguing as normal by our next lesson together"
"Should we bet?"
"You know that's stupid considering I could just start an argument with him"
"Yep, I take it back, we shouldn't bet"
"I thought so"
Meanwhile a couple seats away from them, there was a similar conversation going on between a certain group of boys.
"So how'd it go?"
"It was alright" James shrugged causing Remus to shriek,
"Alright? Alright! It was great! I mean, they didn't argue once and they had a civilised conversation"
"Yeah, It was pretty good" He agreed smiling to himself.
