"Come ON!"
A loud voice sounded so distant in the large caved Nether. However, Y/n knew that he weren't too far away.
He turned upside down as he hung on a cave tooth on the roof of the fiery hell. His scraggly unbrushed h/c hair was pulled into a tiny ponytail.
A young male was trying to find his way back to his portal, but he was going in the opposite direction he needed to go.
To Y/n, He smelled like a blaze but he looked kinda human. Was he a monster-born? Like Y/n?
He grabbed the tip of the spike to try and get a better view, but he ended up snapping the tip.
Though the air in the Nether was hot, free-falling now, he felt a slight breeze of coolness. Something that he loved to feel.
However, when he was like twenty feet above the ground, it wasn't very ideal.
Flipping around like a cat and hovering just above his head, he caught the very large spike before it cracked blazy on the head.
The blaze-man looked at him as he sighed in relief and dropped the spike in a lava pool nearby. "Yo, who- wha-," The blaze-born stuttered as he locked eyes with Y/n's ruby red ones.
Y/n floated around his head as the he watched Y/n in fascination. "W-what are you?" Y/n quirked his head.
"W-W-What the hell are you?!"
"You d-don't have a name?"
"I'll name you ----."
Y/n's feet touched the ground with a soft tap. He was at least a head shorter than the blaze-born in front of him so he had to look up to meet him in the eyes. Looking down at his hand, he noticed it was covered in ash, soot, and dirt. He wiped it on his thin black tee-shirt and offered it to the blaze-born.
"I Y/n."
He seemed startled that Y/n spoke, was he expecting him to be stupid? The taller man hesitated before taking his hand, "Sapnap. Are you..." He looked Y/n up and down from head to toe, "Are you a ghast-born?" Y/n smiled widely and did a twirl in the air happily. Sapnap chuckled nervously at his excitement and looked around as if he were looking for someone.
Turning back to Y/n who was now sitting crisscrossed in the air. "Don't you have a family or something to go back to?" At the mention of family, Y/n's mood dropped. He floated slowly to the ground and looked at the lava ocean sadly.
"Humans bad. Took family and put them to sleep. Not woken up in long time." Sapnap's eyes widened at the sudden confession and change in mood. He shuffled on his feet awkwardly, "Well what about friends?" He looked at Y/n when it was silent for a few moments.
He was surprised to see Y/n looking at the ground, almost terrified. Slowly, he kneeled down next to him and gently placed a hand on Y/n's shoulder. Y/n flinched out of his grasp and flung his body away from Sapnap. Large tears of fear rolled down his face, scared when he saw Sapnap's human-like face.
It clicked a moment later in Sapnap's head onto why Y/n was so scared. Something had happened to Y/n, involving very bad humans claiming to be his friend.
Sapnap panicked for a moment before he heard the familiar jingle of his earings. "E-em, Hey Y-y/n. Look!" He gently put his hands behind his ears and pushed them forward. His ears wiggled a bit as he cracked a playful smile.
The knot in his chest tightened when small frail fingers touched the tips of his pointed ears. He stared into Y/n's eyes as if they were the only thing on Earth.
A soft smile graced the half-lings lips. Sapnap smiled even wider, "There yah go. Whoever claimed to be your friend before, wasn't your friend. Friends don't stab each other in the back." Y/n nodded in understanding as Sapnap stood up.
Sapnap smirked, "So, I'll be your first friend from the depths of hell." Y/n giggled and wiped his tears with a happy nod. The taller male rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, "You wouldn't happen to know the way out of here would you?"
Y/n nodded rapidly like a bobblehead. Sapnap got a headache watching him so he looked elsewhere, that was when he noticed a small white demon's tail with a h/c tuff on the end swishing around.
He looked at his own tail which was black with a black tuff that lit up on fire when he was angry or in a panic. Y/n poked him in the forehead, breaking his thoughts.
Looking straight forward he noticed Y/n was floating again as they made their way toward the exit. "You know, it's kinda cool how you do that."
Y/n quirked his head and floated to the right side of Sapnap's head with a confused smile. "Cool?"
"Yeah cool, how you just float about? It's pretty awesome." As if those were trigger words, Y/n lit up and swirled around him like a happy bee.
Sapnap chuckled and waited for him to settle down.
Eventually Y/n started walking with Sapnap once they reached the soul sand biome. It was then he noticed Y/n's lack of clothing.
The Ghastling had on a thin stretched out black tee-shirt that was to big for him, and a pair of baggy tan cargo pants that were to short for him. He wore no shoes, but in his pointed ears were valuable gold and gems. Sapnap assumed they were something like a family heirloom.
It was silent when they reached the portal, as if they didn't have anymore to say. Or more like, they didn't know what to say.
"Well, I guess this is good bye?" Y/n awkwardly shuffled on his feet, but hissed when he stepped on a sharp piece of netherack.
He resorted to floating again as Sapnap watched the purple portal while fighting an eternal battle.
The blazling clenched his fist and spun around so fast it startled Y/n just a bit, "Come with me." Staring at his offered hand, Y/n looked at it wide-eyed.
Hesitantly, his feet touched the ground and he stared at the hand before up at Sapnap's charcoal eyes. He saw the pleading look that was hiding behind them. With one glance around the fiery hell he called home, his small hand grasped Sapnap's larger one.
The Blazeling lit up and yanked him into a hug. Startled, Y/n's tail tuff lit on fire as they fell backward through the portal.
A cool breeze washed over them and brought a sigh to Sapnap's lips. Y/n closed his eyes and relaxed in the coolness of the overworld. Sapnap's heart pounded underneath him, soothing him into a calm state of mind.
Sapnap hugged him tighter to his chest as they laid in the grass of a flower field, their feet still resting on the portal gate.
"Aaah, it's good to be back."
