Chapter 77: Regret

After the dinner was over, the king walked into his office and dialed Mathew (the duke's) number.

When the Duke's gruff voice echoed from the other end of the phone, the king spoke. "Hello Mathew, this is king Jeremy. I need to meet with you immediately." the king said. He did not give Mathew time to say anything on the phone.

"Very well then your highness." was all Mathew said when Jeremy hung up the phone.

Jeremy was gonna handle this Victoria ordeal. In the past he may have threatened Iman, he may've disapproved of her and Justin being together, But not once did he resort to trying to kill her and and her unborn children, that was an all time low.

He was not willing to stoop so low to get his way, but Victoria felt that's what she needed to do because things were not going the way she wanted.

The king thought it would be better if he met the duke at his house. He didn't want Iman or Justin running into Victoria and then something bad happens. They were already going through enough at this moment.

King Jeremy rolled up to Mathew's house in his black and silver Bentley with tinted windows. His driver Mr. Avery Devereux came around and opened his door. He was greeted by the duke Mathew and his wife Grace along side her were their daughters.

"hello, Jeremy how are you and the family?" grace said in a soft welcoming voice. She is a nice woman.

"Everyone is all fine. Babies are giving this old man a run for his money." Jeremy said with a slight chuckle then soon they were laughing. But the king could not help but notice the slight, but quick smug look Victoria sported when he mentioned the family and the babies.

"Let's come inside" Mathew said to Jeremy. As they walked into the house The King wanted to get straight down to business. "Can we all please sit in the common room, I have some things to discuss with you all." Jeremy said.

Mathew lead everyone into the common room to have this meeting. "Why did you call for this sudden meeting?" Grace askes with concern.

"The reason I called to meet with all of you is because a while ago my son was admitted to the hospital." The king said sternly "I remember is, he okay?" Mathew asked.

"He's fine. I want to talk about how he got sick. They said it was alcohol poisoning. But after looking into it and putting two and two together, I've come to the conclusion that it was something someone had given him." the look on Victoria's face was priceless. She tried to keep her composure but it was hard to do so when you had the king in your house wanting to know who harmed his son.

Victoria felt like she was gonna pass out. She did not mean for Justin to ingest the poison; it was meant for Iman and even then, it was not gonna kill her.

The King said that a little amount of poison goes a long way but someone put too much of it. Victoria almost killed Justin because she was desperate. The Duke and Duchess were shocked at who would want to harm the young prince.

"And I also found out that the poison wasn't intended for my son, but my daughter in law which at the time she was pregnant with the twins." King Jeremy said trying to hold back his anger. It made him so mad that Victoria was so jealous and desperate that she did not care about the innocent lives of two precious beings that had nothing to do with her selfishness.

But he was about to do today what needs to be done. she had to suffer the consequences of her horrible actions. "Victoria do you know about that night?" The king asked Victoria. He was looking her in her eyes pinning her down with his gaze, daring her to lie and deny what she did.
