"She isn't here?" The perfect Madrigal asks the man behind the counter, recognizing him as the chef who works in the café.

But it wasn't like he mattered. She didn't even know his name. The reason she came to enjoy visiting the place was admittedly because she wanted to see you.

Isabela found you intriguing and beautiful. She had always seen you with her prima back in La Casa Madrigal and always took note of how dazzling your smile was.

She admired you despite all the visible imperfections and flaws you had. And maybe that's what had drawn her to you. You were your whole self and didn't really care about what anyone thought.

She strived to live the same way as you, with independence and confidence. And as much as she had wished, she never really dared to interact with you.

You were Dolores' best friend, someone that made her feel comfortable enough to share everything with. Her prima never really shared much to them about her melancholy despite it sometimes being so obvious on her face.

Isabela had never seen her so happy with anyone else; not even her own familia. She didn't want to take that away from her prima.

With a packed lunch that you had personally cooked, you make your way to Dolores who was in town helping with chores.

Every Saturday was a busy day for her, thus being unable to visit the café. It simply became routine for you to bring her food to eat. Although it was really just an excuse to see her at least once a day.

"You're here!" She says, ecstatic as a fake smile appears on her face. She claps her hands together, and just from that simple action, you could already tell what was going on.

You smile as you pinch her ear, making her hermanito shapeshift back with a yelp. "Ay! Come on, will this trick never work on you?!" He asks, groaning as he rubs his ear with a dissatisfied expression.

You chuckle, handing him another smaller boxed lunch, sparkles suddenly appearing in his eyes. "Sí, but because I love you I brought some food for you too this time."

He smirks, opening it and already taking a bite. With his mouth full of food, he speaks. "I'll make sure I get it right next time."

"That marks your thousandth attempt Cami, but do as you please. Just don't ruin our lunch together next time." You say with a smile as the two of you make your way to where she was, sitting next to Félix. Pepa was there too, with sweet Antonio in the middle of their parents.

He nudges your side with his elbow playfully, his signature teasing smile on his lips. "I think you mean date?" While wiggling his eyebrows, he pushes you closer to Dolores.

The two of you were well aware that she could hear the conversation, and the teasing was frequent. Both you and Dolores had just pretended it didn't happen, because to her it was just the usual playful banter.

Not once did she ever consider you actually liking her. And dating a woman was out of the question in all of her life choices.

Walking towards you, she pulls you into a hug, the beautiful smile she had growing at your presence. "Come on, mamá and papá missed you, especially Antonio."

Their faces glow with delight when they turn to look at you in sync. It was as if your entrance was on cue. "Mija, it's nice to finally see you after all these weeks. You've only been giving time to Dolores. I'm starting to think we don't matter anymore." Pepa says, a cloud slowly forming as the delight slowly disappears.

"Amor, the cloud." Félix reminds as he strokes his wife soothingly, the cloud slowly dissipating into thin air with each gentle touch against her skin.

Your smile grows at how cute they were. If you were ever to be married, you wanted what the two of them shared. No couple was perfect, but they certainly fit together flawlessly.

It wasn't hard to imagine you and Dolores with such a future, but you never let your dreams go too far. If it did, you would end up hopelessly waiting for a future that wouldn't come.

The 'what ifs' bugged you a lot. What if you actually tried to get her to fall in love with you? What if you actually had a chance? What if the two of you got into a relationship and ended up getting married?

But what if the moment you confess, everything shatters? The precious moments and memories, the friendship, the bond you share with her family, the everyday happiness... It will all be for nothing if your love for her ruins all the beautiful things you already have in your life.

"I'm sorry tía, the café's been so busy. I barely have time to see Dolores either, but she comes to visit every day." You state, giving a proper explanation before planting a soft kiss on Antonio's cheek.

Pepa nods in understanding, a rainbow growing at the top of her head as she watches you treat her youngest son like family.

You had always helped them without them even asking. Pepa ended up relying on you so much more than she would have ever expected at first. But with how much care and affection you had in your eyes, she could trust her children to you with her life. She had even considered you as her own at this point.

And although it was as clear as day to her with how in love you were with her daughter, she wanted it to be a bridge that the two of you would cross on your own.

Félix laughs, Pepa shaking her head with disbelief, causing you to wear a confused expression on your face. "So that's where she's been off to!" Antonio says, a light bulb practically appearing at the top of his head like he just had an epiphany.

You raise a brow at the said girl, her cheeks dusted a light pink. She instantly looks away, embarrassment on her face. "I may have been sneaking off right after finishing my chores to come see you."

Antonio lights up at her confession. Suddenly, he starts singing a short tune, happily dancing and swaying to a song that wasn't there. "You love her! You love her! You really, really love her, and you're gonna get married! And Isabela's gonna be the flower girl, and-"

"Toñito..." You cut him off, an amused smile on your face at the song he came up with in the spur of the moment. He was so adorable, you could barely look him in the eyes without fawning over him.

"It isn't a big deal anyway," Dolores says, a pout on her lips as she starts setting food for everyone to eat.

"I believe running off despite the wrath of Abuela each night is quite the big deal, right papá?" Cami teases, almost done with his own packed lunch as he repeatedly nudges his hermana's shoulders.

Félix nods, helping Pepa eat while she starts feeding Antonio. "It's undeniable mija, your mamá did the same thing for me." He finishes his sentence with a wink that he throws your way, going unnoticed by Dolores.

You let out a giggle in between bites of food, Dolores rolling her eyes at the comments of her family. "I mean, of course I love you and do all these little things for you. I'm your best friend after all." She states, unaware why she was starting to sound like she was trying to convince someone.

At her words, everyone except the two of you let out a groan in frustration. You would have done so too, if you weren't used to it by now.

But those little things she did was the reason why you kept falling in love with her more as each day passes. You spend the rest of the day with them, not bothering to check back on the café and use the time to catch up.
