(College quirkless AU)
Y/n, a broken college student, victim of a toxic childhood and an ex-boyfriend that made her addict to drugs, seeks to drown her problems in alcohol and sex. When one night she stumbles with an attractive man in a bar and ends...
It has been like two weeks since I had that conversation with Shota at my work, and we've been texting each other from time to time but we haven't seen each other aside from his classes. But I secretly find myself smiling every time I see a notification from his contact pop up on my phone.
I've also been talking with Shinso and we agreed to meet each other at his dorm and catch up a little bit. So after school I'm heading to buy some take out and snacks and head over to Shinso's place.
I was about to knock on his door with the bag of food in one hand and the other raised in a fist ready to knock on the door when it suddenly came flying open and on the other side stood Sero with a smile on his face while I just stood there with widened eyes not expecting to see Sero here of all the places.
"Hey Y/n, Shinso told me you were coming. I'm on my way out so have fun you two." He said the last sentence a little louder so Shinso could hear him from behind him. I shot him a small smile while he stepped around me and out the door.
"So Sero is your roommate, huh?" I asked with a chuckle of disbelief but it sounded more like a statement, now without Sero blocking my view to the inside of the apartment, I could see the annoyed expression on Shinso's face. I stepped inside and closed the door behind me, heading to the kitchen aisle to place the food down.
"Shut up," He said with a low tone, almost in a whisper, following me inside the kitchen and grabbing some plates to eat the food. I laughed under my breath and helped him plate the food, taking it to his room where we will be spending the evening hanging out.
We played some music while we ate and talked about everything and nothing. Talking with Shinso felt so easy, like he wouldn't judge me for what I say and I could be myself around him, letting my guard down just a little bit. It seems like I'm making myself a new friend.
After hours of watching movies, talking and just doing whatever, it was now half past midnight and we were outside in the balcony of Shinso's room smoking a pre-rolled joint he made this morning. Watching the few stars in the night sky in silence, while passing the blunt between each other.
"We have a project for English class due next week, you know? Be my partner." Shinso spoke up, breaking the silence. I looked up in his direction to realize he was already looking at me, I sent him a small smile which he returned.
"Bet." I simply said and went back to watching the stars and exhaling the leftover smoke into the chilling night breeze. "Shinso..." I said softly, not wanting to disrupt the tranquil atmosphere.
Shinso hummed in acknowledgement and turned to face me once again, but I stayed with my gaze locked to the night sky. I took a long drag from the blunt and closed my eyes while I felt the familiar burning sensation in my throat and lungs before breathing out the excess smoke and opening my eyes. Shinso watched my every move like I was the most interesting thing he's ever seen, his eyes never left my figure even once like he was in a trance.
"Have you ever felt weird things in your stomach when you're with a certain person...?" I trailed off trying to get my thoughts together and find the right words to describe that feeling. "And you feel warm inside when they look your way, and knowing you're gonna see them soon brings you excitement..." After finishing I looked his way and saw him with widened eyes and mouth slightly agape. I let out a small breathy chuckle at his reaction, guess I went a little too deep.
After hearing my laugh, Shinso snapped out of his head and shut his mouth, gaining back his composure. "Yes, I know what you're talking about." He whispered, lowering his head and letting it hang with his gaze towards the ground. A confused expression made its way to my features, maybe I touched a sensitive subject without the intention to.
"What is that?" Curiosity got the better of me wanting an answer to the unknown feelings I've been having lately towards a certain teacher. Shinso stayed silent for a long while in the same position, I tore my eyes away from him, opting to just leave it at that and took the last drag of the blunt before putting it off.
Little did I know that particular someone was feeling the exact things I described towards me. Ever since he talked to me at the party, he felt attracted to me and wanted to get to know me.
All of a sudden, Sero came bursting loudly through the glass doors leading to the balcony, a little drunk. "Hey Hitosh- Oh Y/n you're still here," He said, his words a little slurred. I looked in his direction and smiled softly, Shinso also looked up but he had an unreadable expression and seeing him like that made the smile on my face fade. "I just wanted to let you know I was back." After saying that, Sero walked away and out of the room.
I looked at Shinso and he looked at me. We stayed gazing at each other for a few seconds before I spoke up, "It's getting late, I think I should go." I stood up from my seat and began making my way to his room and towards the door. Shinso just silently followed behind me without saying a word.
I feel that after what I said about my feelings I unknowingly made things awkward between us and I don't even know why. I reached the front door and turned around with the intention to at least say goodbye to Shinso, but he didn't look up at me and that somehow hurt.
I nodded my head slightly and opened the door walking out, not looking back at him.

After I got back to my apartment I went straight to my room, I didn't even have the motivation to shower. What happened with Shinso brought my mood down and I just wanted to lay down and sleep, tomorrow was Friday and I had my first class till 10 a.m. so if I went to sleep right now I would get a nice night of rest, but the sudden vibration of my phone in my back pocket brought me out of my half asleep daze.
Groggily I took my phone and turned it on, squinting my eyes due to the bright screen. I didn't even bother to turn on the lights so my room was dark. After adjusting my sight to the brightness of my phone I read that Shota sent me a couple texts, and I smiled at that fact without even noticing.
Shota
Kitten
Are you free tomorrow after your classes?
Me
Why so interested in my schedule all of a sudden?
After texting him back I waited for a few seconds and saw the little bubble with three dots signaling that he was already typing a response.
Shota
Just answer the question you brat.
I giggled at his text but typed out another reply anyways.
Me
Yes Shota, I'm free all afternoon.
Were you planning on taking me out?
Shota
Yes.
Be ready by 7. I'm picking you up.
Me
Wait WHA-
Seen
That bastard had the nerve to leave me in seen after saying something like that. Was he serious? I started smiling at the idea of going on a date with Shota, maybe this is exactly what I need to finally sort out my feelings. I'll have to ask Mina for fashion advice again, Shota didn't mention where he was taking me so I don't know what to wear but I'm sure she'll totally know what to give me.
