CW: overdose, mentions of suicide.

It was a warm afternoon, classes had just ended a couple weeks ago and now I just had to go back to school to attend some conferences and final exams, so it was fairly early when Hizashi texted me to meet him at the cafe just outside campus to 'have a chat' as he put on the messages.

So that's what I did, after my last exam of the day I made my way out of the university gates and straight to the small cafe across the street. The little bell above the door rang when I entered the coffee bar, I was greeted with the bitter smell of coffee and my blond's loud voice calling me over to his table. He had his way of making his presence known wherever we walked into, something my introverted ass wasn't grateful for.

"Heyyy Sho!" The blond practically yelled, even though I was merely six feet away from him. "I already ordered you a drink, plain black coffee. Just how you like it" He continued as I took a seat in the chair across from him. "I still don't understand how you can shrink something like that..." Hizashi kept rambling on and on but I just turned him down and his voice became white noise as I gazed outside. We were seated at a small table next to a wide window with the view of the street in front. The wind softly rustled the leaves of the cherry blossom trees and made them fall gracefully to the ground. It was only the beginning of summer so the cold windy weather was wearing down, being replaced by the hot, suffocating summer days.

"-ey Hey! HEY!! SHOTAAA" Hizashi suddenly yelled and waved his hand in my face, bringing me out of my thoughts and making me tear my eyes off of the nature outside. "Are you even listening to me?!" he asked with his whiny, annoying voice.

"No, I'm sorry..." I quietly said and carefully sipped from my black coffee, mindful of the hot beverage inside the cup. It was a habit of mine sometimes tuning out conversations with Hizashi, since he tended to ramble on and just talk a lot. "What were you sayin'?"

"I was telling you about Shirakumo, man." He sighed and looked down at his phone before continuing. "He hasn't been answering my calls and... I'm just worried, you know?" Oh yeah, Shirakumo. Ever since his mother died and lost his job, he hasn't been the same. We barely talk anymore and he doesn't show up at school either. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about him too, after all, he's one of my best friends.

"He hasn't answered my messages either." I said, looking down at my half empty cup of coffee. "I'll go visit him after this." I finished, raising my head back up and looking at Hizashi, who just smiled and nodded at what I said.

"Good. I would go with you but I still have more exams today." He informed me while finishing off his drink. After that conversation we kept talking about school and how's been going lately before we both said goodbye to each other and parted ways.

As I'm walking to Shirakumo's place I plug in my earphones and turn the volume all the way up, shoving my hands into my pant's pockets, this is my way of avoiding human interaction. If people see you with earphones on they won't talk to you thinking you won't hear them, and that's exactly what I'm trying to achieve. Though my shoulder length hair covers them, it still does the trick.

Just as I'm nearing his apartment complex, a shiver runs down my spine, making the hair in the back of my neck rise up on edge and cold sweat forms on my forehead. This knot on my stomach told me something wasn't right, like something bad was about to happen. It was scaring me. I drily gulp down the lump in my throat and force myself to keep walking and enter the elevator, pressing the button for the third floor. Usually I'm not the type of person to get scared easily, trust me, Hizashi and Shirakumo have tried everything in the books to catch me off guard and scare me, failing in the end. But right now it was different, it was like something in my gut was telling me to turn around and walk away since I wouldn't like what I was about to witness. But I haven't seen Shirakumo in a while, I need to know he's okay.
