**{Let me down Slowly}{by:Myah}

"Are you hungry?" I ask as I watch him.

He curls up into a ball on his bed.

I crawl over to him and peer down at his face. He stares away from me.

I roll him onto his back and nudge my nose into his neck.

My Art smells too good. In an instant my body responds and I want to taste him again.

"Can I have more?" I ask into his neck as his smell teases my senses.

"Do what you want." He mutters.

I lean back to look at his face.

I watch as a tear slowly makes its way down his cheekbone.
I take hold of his chin forcing him to meet my gaze.

"What's wrong baby?"

He stares back at me with fuzzy eyes.

"You care?"

"Of course I do. Tell me."

His eyebrows furrow, "You ate up the very last piece of me. You own it all including my dignity. Are you pleased?"

I search his face for understanding.
"What are you talking about?"

"I had no choice to lose the love of my life to a woman. I had no choice to watch you be engaged and be pregnant. I have no choice to escape it all. The last thing I had was my dignity, the choice to never be second choice. To never be a mistress. You took that. You own everything. Do what you want to me. I don't matter. How I feel means nothing. I am nothing."

My heartaches, "It isn't true. You could never be second choice or a mistress. You are my every choice."

He sits up swiftly.

"Stop telling me lies!" He snaps.

I reach up to wipe at his face and he pushes at my chest.

"I haven't lied. I love you."

He slaps me.

"Stop saying that to me! Stop following me! Stop finding me! Leave me ALONE!"

"Please Art, don't do this. Don't break your promise."

"How dare you?! You broke everything first!"

"Baby just listen-

"Get out! Leave! Never show yourself to me again!"

"Please don't say that. I'll die if you leave me."

He blinks at me as tears run down his face.
"I'll die if I don't leave you. You had me a final time. Enough! Go home to your wife and child and never find me again."

My chest tightens as my lungs fight for air.

Please no.

I take hold of his face with both hands.

"I would never betray you. Please don't leave me."
I plead, but it's already happening. Everything I am, everything that matters is him.
"I'll disappear if you don't love me."

He scowls back at me, "Haven't you been listening? I don't love you."

Is my heart still beating?
"Don't say that. You don't mean it." I mutter.
