I walked through the hall and the more I recognized familiar faces the more I held my head down. Midwood isn't the best Hugh school, but it also isn't the worst, I was just thankful to have Mani with me.

After a while I seen Tye talking to a group and once he seen me he began walking over.

"What's going on ? You haven't been replying to nothing.." he said before Mani looked at me

"My bad, wassup Mani." Tye spoke before offering his hand out and Mani looked at it for a while before capping him up.

"Ight sis, ima head to. Lass make sure you get to yours on time." He told me before parting my shoulder and walking off

"Tye-.."

"Granny has cancer." He told me before I furrowed my eyebrows

"So money got tight and I picked up what a 9-5 couldn't cover m." He explained

"I'm sorry.."I told him before furrowing my eyebrows

"I took you downtown careless, my cousin who was helping out was shot and killed down there and I wasn't thinking about the risk I also put you in." He said before I looked down

"When did all of this happen?" I asked before he started to speak but stopped

"What happened to my cousin is in the past, but granny's been battling cancer for a few months now." He said

"She's so strong." I sighed before the bell rang

"We good ?" He asked before I cleared my throat and nodded

"It's all good." I said before walking off to class.

Chris-

I went up for a three put it bounced off the rim causing me to smack my teeth.

"Chris off the court." My coach told me before I smacked my teeth

"Coach this is practice it was just a bad shot." I said while following him

"If that's the case you've been having bad shots all practice , just a bad shot won't get us a win in the game." He told me before I shook my head

"What the fuck." I mumbled before walking off towards the locker room

"Smith if you leave this gym you'll be running double for each minute you miss." Coach threatened but I continued walking off and Kaliyah followed

"Chris why'd you do that ?" Kaliyah asked

"I'm not in the mood Kaliyah deadass." I said before placing my towel over my face.

I felt her straddle my lap and she caressed the back of my neck

"Walking out on practice won't accomplish anything." She said before I sighed and she kissed my lips before getting up and pulling my arm causing me to get up

"Coke on, you've been gone for five minutes so you got about ten minutes of suicides." She laughed before I smacked my teeth

Once I walked into the living room Janae and Desmir was on the coach making our causing me to stop.

"Damn what the fuck." I said before Janae got up

"Y'all couldn't take that shut to yo room ?" I asked before Desmir chuckled
