Y/N p.o.v

Lost in a trance of the mermaid in front of your own eyes, that you've seem to have forgotten that you never found out how you got here without any trace. With more thought, will anyone find you? You hoped that at least the crew can find this island once more, but if they don't, what's the backup plan? Just wait here with a creature with tales of consuming or killing lost sailors? If that was even a choice, it was undetermined when they had eaten last, or what they even ate for that matter.
You moved from the sun-like mermaid, choosing to look around the island while you have a chance to save the sanity left inside of your brain. People in larger cities are always told that pirates were crazy from the top of their head to the bottom of their shoe, some are like that of course, but you? You still had some sense in you, though it won't last long if you kept staring at a creature that could eat you alive if it felt like doing so.
Walking more and more into the island, you realized just how large it was. You went from tree to tree, searching for any sign of food like a coconut or something. The more you searched, the more it seemed different in comparison to what the original land was. 'This was the same island, right?' You thought to yourself, remembering it was much larger than how it was yesterday. "..blimey...is this the same island from a few days ago..?" You asked, hoping for a voice to appear and say you're on the same island and boom! You're saved by your crew. Or even better that you'd wake up from this dream.
But the pain-splitting headache, calming skys, and realistic ocean waves continued to remind you that it wasn't a dream.

After hours of searching, all you could find was a coconut and the least hope to be found. You had moved to the other side of the island than where you saw the mermaid, and if you had to be completely honest: You hoped it would stay that way.
It felt nice with the cool breeze. Though the loneliness was a bit saddening to have...that was until there was the sound of splashing coming closer, and with a clear gaze, you could tell it was the mermaid. Never in 1,000 years you would see a mermaid move towards a sailor as though it was a friend, let alone have the sailor be you. There was a sigh that escaped from you before standing and moving towards the creature yet once again. "Like I said, can't unders-" you were interrupted by it poking its head out, speaking "Heellloo! Sorry for not speaking last time, i had no idea that you couldn't understand me! But i remember you, you were on the island we like! Say, what are those things you have? I've heard fish say it's...lags? Ligs? Oh, Oh! What's your name? Do you like games? Why do you ride on those big things that float on the water?" It stared at you, waiting for a response from the person standing in front of it. You were in complete shock, frozen in place before it reached up to poke you. That touch made you break out of the trance, shaking your head "blimey...okay....first, called legs....im Y/n, sure..games are fun, those are called boats and it's so we don't get wet" you tried to answer all of their questions, hoping that you hadn't missed one.
It clapped its hands together "Y/n! Y/n is such a lovely name, I just adore it already, i can tell we're going to be great friends! That reminds me, i never told you my name! I must have misplaced my manners, but my name is Sun! Sunny, or whatever you'd like!" You realize quickly that it doesn't seem to recognize to keep its tone down, the practical yelling was making your headache worse. "That nice, just..keep it down..i have a headache and right now im wa-" yet again you were interrupted, it was aggravating you slowly the more it occurred "oh..! Im sorry, I'll keep my voice more quiet" the fins moved back..was Sun sad about making it worse? Why did they care? "It's...fine. also....stop interrupting me."
They stared at you...will it ever blink? Wait, Can it even blink? Without thought you moved closer to Sun's face, holding their face to check for any signs of ability to blink like an eyelid, or something related towards it.

It seemed to have froze when you held it so close to your face...
