Because I'm a monster"

Since I had returned from the office, I wasn't able to concentrate in class. It was all dutch to me. The only thing that seemed to make sense was my broken fate that had led me to the point where there was with no place left to go and find peace.

The only thing that was keeping my weary body from tearing apart was the thought of going to my place, my safe place. Because of Jungkook, it was also snatched away, leaving nothing for me to hold onto.

I was thankful to our teacher for not taking the matter to our parents. They wouldn't have believed it in the first place. "Why Jungkook would do that?" they would've questioned, oblivious of all the ruinous changes that had happened in the past and tainted us with irreparable scars of hurt and hatred.

"It's been six months since Jungkook visited us. Where's he nowadays? He's never been away for so long" my mom asked, packing lunch boxes for me and dad in the kitchen.

"He.. just returned from Gwangju two weeks ago. Tournaments and training is pretty exhausting for nationals so I guess he... needs some rest" I explained hesitantly, unsure if my words were believable.

"Jungkook went for two months of training last year too. As soon as he returned to the city, he was at our home. And here you are telling me that he..."

"Eomma.." I mumbled, as I could sense how her voice had begun wavering with every word that followed. She sounded like a helpless mother calling out for her child she hadn't seen in ages.

She didn't speak further, continuing with the kitchen chores. I gave her a gentle back hug, though she didn't respond to it.

Placing the two tiffin boxes in my hands, she turned around without looking at me and asked about my part job.

"Are you going for the shift today?"

"Yeah.. But mom why are you-"

"There's no wasabi in blue tiffin... Give it to Jungkook. Don't eat from cafe" she said while cleaning the kitchen counter. Nobody but my mother knew it better how much Jungkook hated spicy food. She would always make sure to prepare healthy meals for us, never letting us eat anything from outside.
