The Song is Ryder's Lullaby by Centaur World
Looking through the crowd of contestants, Wukong couldn't help but nervously fiddle with his tail, an old fear of his coming back and crawling up his spine in a mocking manner.
"Pa?"
Nearly jumping out of his skin, the Monkey King whirled around to face his son with a nervous smile, trying to appear brave for the young cub, "Ye-yeah bud?"
"You okay?" The teen's brows furrowed in worry, Mei and Ming joining as well, before Macaque stepped in with a sigh, looking to his husband for permission, the ginger monkey nodding.
"Peaches has stage fright."
"Oh."
Oh? That was all the trio had to say? Oh?! This...confused the king.
"Pa, if you have stage fright, all you had to do was tell us, you know?" MK frowned, walking up and hugging the sun king, before backing up a bit with a comforting smile. "I mean, we all have fears--mine being spiders--there's no need to be ashamed. I'm not gonna' make fun of you."
Shoulders sagging in relief, Wukong ruffled his kid's hair, "What did I do to deserve you kids?"
"Sorry to interrupt," The group all looked over to where Tang, Pigsy and Sandy were standing, worried looks on the adult trio's own faces. "But what exactly are we going to do for the talent show?? I mean, none of us have any talents that we can enter into the show...at least none that won't freak out the audience."
A small paw raised up, everyone looking down at the innocent eyes of Ming, "What about papa's lullaby?"
"Lullaby?" Everyone turned to a red faced Macaque, who chuckled a bit.
"That could work...I mean, if you're up to it," Monkey King looked over at his partner, not wanting to push the other into performing if he didn't want to.
"I don't see why not," Fanning his face slightly to calm down the red flush on his cheeks, the shadow king hummed a bit, looking over at his youngest with a frown. "But, that's something I'd sing only for you Ming...are you sure you're okay with me sharing it with other people?"
"Mmhmm!~" The small one nodded, tail wagging. "If it'll help save the world, then okay!~"
Laughing, Macaque began to explain the song to the others, grabbing instruments that the hosts allowed contestants to borrow, and teaching the chords to each person, with Ming, Tang and Wukong and Red Son staying back--Wukong for his stage fright, Ming was too young, Tang as an extra set of eyes to watch the chaotic kids and Red Son didn't want to go up in front of a crowd--leaving the rest of the gang to preform, once there turn came along.
"Wukong and I are going to grab snacks, okay?" The scholar handed their youngest over to Red Son, who huffed and rolled his eyes as the two adults treated him like a child. "You two stay here."
"I'm not a cub," The fire prince grumbled, watching as the duo left, before a devious look crawled up onto his face, and he looked down at Ming. "Say Golden Eyes." The child looked up at her brother-figure curiously. "How about we go for a walk?"
Normally, Red Son wouldn't do this kind of stuff, especially as a child is under his care...but demon cubs don't like being told what to do by strangers...in fact, by a stranger telling that cub NOT to do something, it'll only make that cub want to do it even more....
And by the Buddha did Red Son want to do something crazy.
Shifting his small companion onto his back--double checking she was secure before he did anything else--Red Son walked out the back door and looked for a ladder, climbing up the metal rungs once he spotted the climbing device and onto the roof.
