Chapter 14 - The actual redemption

Hailey was having a real migraine. And a very strong one, because she started to get dizzy and she was sweating quite a lot. The noises in her head were tormenting and she was desperate.

She just ran out of school. She had no idea where she was going, but she needed to get away from everything and everyone until her headache passed.
And that time was indeterminate at the time.

She ended up turning the corner of the school and going straight for a long time until she reached a park. She sat down behind a tree and went back to crying desperately.

Meanwhile, at school, everyone decided to look for Hailey, hoping to find her hidden in a classroom or in the garden. But she wasn't even in the building.

The talent show was announced paused due to the inconvenient and, if no one found Hailey and/or the issue didn't get resolved, it would be officially cancelled. And would only happen again in 4 years, as usual.

- HOW COULD YOU, ZOEY?! ONCE AGAIN, THE SAME TRICK?? AND YOU HURT MY SISTER THIS TIME!! I swear to God, I'm going to end you!!-
- Zander, calm down!! It's not worth it!
- Let go of me, Luke! This blond brat needs to learn to never mess with my friends and my family!!

- STOP IT, GUYS!! - Milly shouted.
- IT'S NOT WORTH IT! - Sean added.

- No, it's okay! Let him be, Milly. If he wants to leave here with a reputation for being aggressive, it's up to him. I'm good.

- Oh, now you're playing with fire...! - Milly huffed, approaching Zoey, annoyed in the extreme.

(Sean) - Milly!!

Pratically everyone looked after Hailey, and everywhere: classrooms, cafeteria, garden, bathrooms and even the rooftop... But she was nowhere.

Jake ended up losing sight of Hailey because of the crowd coming after him.
He felt extremely guilty, like if this was all his fault. He remembered everything they've been through ever since they met until the present day.

And he realized... They've both had fallen in love with eachother, but they were both afraid to tell eachother because of their past.

Jake bullied Hailey and her step-brother Zander, and he joined the club at first to ask Daisy out, but he eventually liked the club and got closer to Hailey...
Hailey was bullied by Jake, but she decided to give him a chance and she got closer to Jake...

But on top of the past, there was still the competition and everything that had gone before, which made things a lot worse for them.

And all this time, he'd never realized how important Hailey was to him. He only had eyes for Daisy, after all. How would he realize that Hailey didn't just let him join the club out of kindness?
That was probably what she meant when she said she let him join because of a "mix of reasons".
She fell in love with him. And that feeling got stronger, day by day.

Jake didn't want to fall in love with her, because he thought she wouldn't accept his feelings because of everything that happened between them. But that was exactly the point: she always liked him, and "everything that happened" made her feelings towards him and the fear of confessing grow mutually.

{...Oh, God, what have I done?}

He sighed heavily and made up the final decision in his mind.

{I'm not giving her up this time.}

Then he ran away and left the school. Everyone around found it strange, but since he was already leaving, everyone continued to look inside, but checking to see if they checked every single place.

Meanwhile, Zoey (un)fortunely got suspended for the last time. She just didn't get expelled because it was the last school year. But her reputation at school made her miss out on at least 90% of good colleges options. Only the public ones were left or none.
She even got the terrible news in front of everyone! The principal was very harsh on her.
