Jake's despair wasn't as big as when he went after Hailey, but now it certainly was.
Why, you ask me?
Hailey wasn't near the school. And Jake couldn't find her anywhere.

His concern grew with each step he took on the floor. He walked (in fact, ran) around the block and didn't find her, so he gave up, sat on a park bench and took out his cell phone.
Not to play games or anything. To call her parents.
Luckily, he saved her dad's number.

As he was about to press the button to start calling, he heard a familiar cry. His sense of hearing was piqued and he decided to follow the noise.
And guess what? There was Hailey!
I'm not saying this in a happy tone, trust me.
She was devastaded.

- Hailey…?!

Hailey jumped off the ground in shock. Her heart almost came out of her mouth, after all, she was completely distracted.

- Jake?! - She asked nervously and stayed quiet, but since she noticed he wasn't going to leave, she got up. - How did you find me?–

Jake grabbed both of her hands and asked a million questions at a time.

- Are you okay?? The whole school was looking after you, but we didn't find you anywhere!! Did you get hurt? Do you wanna talk about that audio? Do you want company or would you rather stay quiet??!

- Stop showering me with questions!!

- Hailey, you ran out of the school, made everyone look after you and even paused the talent show. If we don't find you, it'll get cancelled. Everyone's gonna hate us!

- Oh, that's your concern? People's approval? You never stopped to wonder what I felt when Zoey exposed me in front of the whole school? Seriously Jake, weren't you over this already?!

- No, that's not my concern. Why do you think I'm here?! I'm worried like hell about you! So much that I ran the entire block looking for you. I almost called your father to tell him you're missing. If you had gone farther, this would have ended up in the police. Do you realize the gravity of the situation you put us all in?

- I don't fucking care. These headaches are getting on my nerves, and I can't do anything to heal it. I've taken medicine at home, napped after school more times and even stopped eating junk food. And it's no use!! So I really thought... That's what Zoey said. I think this is a certain emotional headache. But this is completely nonsensical, so I avoided telling you. It would only worsen things. In fact, it already is: look at us now!

- But don't you think it would've been better if you told me, so we would both think of a solution and fix this?

- The problem is not in us, Jake. It's in me.

Her migraine got even worse and more tears came from her eyes. Just for a final touch, it started to rain.

- I can't forget the past. I can't handle the fact that you once liked Daisy. I fell in love with you. It's all my fault. Everybody moved on, and I'm still suffering with what is already fixed.

Jake could feel his heartbeat getting faster and faster. He felt something coming from inside, screaming:

{Jake, don't let Hailey blame herself for this! This is not up to you, but you can do something to help her. Don't just stand there without doing anything… Make this her last strike of pain!}

- I always do this, after all. I ruin everything just because the past still haunts me. And everybody knows it. So it's no use thinking we can both fix this, because you are not to blame. I AM!!
