Ding ding ding!!

"One second!"

DING DING DING!! The bell at the counter Scoops Ahoy rings more aggressively this time.

"Jeez, can you guys be patient??" the kids in front of you simply smile in unison as a response. You sigh. "Hey, dingus! Your children are here!" you yell to the boy in the back room, placing your hands around your mouth like a megaphone.

The little window to the back room opens. "Again? Seriously?" Steve groaned from the back. The kids make sure to ring the bell just one more time to really set you both off. Steve rolls his eyes, letting them into the back halls. "Come on, come on!" he orders, making a waving mothing in front of them. "And be back home by 9, Max!" you yell to your sister. "I swear if anybody hears about this-" "we're dead!" they all say collectively, finishing his sentence for him. He stares at them, scoffing and shutting the door again. Gosh, he seemed so annoyed that it was funny to you.

"I swear, these kids are going to get me fired" he croaked. "Aww, don't worry, you're doing great, mom!" you pat his chest, but he just brushes past you, rolling his eyes and making his way to the ice cream station beside you. "Keep rolling your eyes and they'll get stuck back there, and you won't be able to see my face as I laugh watching that happen.." you joke. "Ohh, shut it" he mumbles.

Just a second later, the power goes out, shutting off all the lights in Starcourt Mall. "Huh, weird.." Steve walks over to the light switch, switching it on and off even if it clearly isn't working. "That's not gonna work, bozo" he stopped, looking you dead in the eye. "Oh really?" his lips forming a straight line, proceeding to flick the light switch on and off repeatedly.

A few of what felt like hundreds of clicks later, the lights turned back on all throughout the mall. Steve raises his hands in the air beside him. "Let there be light!" he states, quite matter-of-factly. Your only response is simply staring at him in disbelief as he makes his way back to the counter and proceeds slinging ice cream.

"Hey, heads up" you warn, looking over at the two young girls at the counter. "Ahoy, ladies! What can I get you this fine afternoon?" god, he is such a weirdo. The girl requests chocolate and he wastes no time preparing it for her. You honestly didn't know why he had to try so hard to impress girls. He has the looks but I mean, if it were you, you could score all the guys you wanted. I mean, you're Billy Hargrove's sister, and from the looks on people's faces when they see him, he's like, insanely hot, and you got most of your genes from him so that obviously means you were just as good looking as him.

"Alrighty, one scoop o' chocolate, that's a buck twenty-five!" he informs, dragging out the 'y' in 'alrighty' just a bit. "Anything else?" he pauses and takes a look at the text on the girl's t-shirt. "Ooo, Purdue! Fancy" he makes a weird face, and the girls chuckle a bit. "Yeah, you know.. I considered it, Purdue, but then I was like y'know what? I really think I need some real-life experience, y'know, before I hit college, see what it feels like.. Kinda like uh.. I don't know, see what it's like to earn a working-mans wage, y'know, uhh.." the register starts beeping, stopping him from rambling any longer, or so you thought..

"Oh, sorry.. I think that's like really important" and as you expected, he obviously feels the absolute need to keep talking. "Can you not tell they're not interested??" you think. "Yeahh.. totally.." the girl agrees.. kind of? "Yeah, anyways, this was like, so fun" he finally starts to conclude the conversation, hopefully stopping for good now. Aaaaand again, of course not..
