--------------------

The time was 3:00 pm on a Tuesday, and you and Nat were taking over a table in the library to try to cram as much information as possible for tomorrow's history test. It was a mess. Your textbooks were all over the table, your bags were on the floor, and you had flashcards everywhere.

The table looked like it had been hit by a tornado.

"Nat, when was the Gilded Age?" you ask the redhead next to you as you read off the flashcard. In response to her lack of response, you looked up from the card to see her trying to balance a pencil on her finger. Her adorable antics made you smile. As her pencil hit the table, you tried to get her attention once more.

"Natty,"

Upon hearing your nickname, she looked up at you. Had anyone else called her Natty, she would have killed them. Others find her intimidating, but she's a big softy around you.

"...what did you say?" Nat asked you innocently, having no idea what had previously taken place. Her question made you laugh again, finding her adorable. Playfully hitting her arm with the flashcard, you told her, "Nattttttt you're supposed to be listening."

While picking up her pencil again, Nat pouted playfully, "I was distracted.". "With what?" you asked, "balancing your pencil on your finger?"

"Yes! It was really important," Nat admitted matter-of-factly. "Oh, sorry, I'll let you get back to that," you said, pretending to read a textbook on the table.

"No Y/N/N, read the question againnn," Nat whined while pushing your arm back and forth. You both made eye contact and smiled softly at one another.

"Ok Nat, when was the Gilded Age?" you asked her again. "Erm..it was around the 1870s to 1900 right?" Nat answered back, her brows furrowing slightly as she was in thought.

"Correct! Good job Natty," you tell her while leaning forward to give her a quick peck on the cheek. Her cheeks were lightly dusted with red after you kissed her.

"Your turn!" Nat said as she reached for a flashcard. "Ok, Y/N/N, Which war interrupted the construction of the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C.?" Nat asked you, bending the flashcard after questioning you. (A/N I just looked up random ass US history questions💀)

"Oh umm. Wait I know this one! the War of 1812! Wait no! Uhh...the American Civil War right?" you told her uncertainly.

"The American Civil War is correct," Nat said while wiggling her eyebrows, making you laugh.

Getting bored of studying you asked Nat; "Wanna do something else?" Nat smirked at you and asked, "What do you have in mind Y/N/N?" As she said your name in a seductive tone, you knew where she was going with this.

"Get your head out of the gutter Romanoff!" you said while laughing, shoving her playfully. She only laughed back and you two started a pushing match.

Then, the librarian came up to you guys and said you had to leave because of all the noise. Nat and you began to clean up, putting textbooks in the correct places and your flashcards into your bag. As you walked out of the library, there was a light drizzle. In the absence of an umbrella or jacket, you used your bags as umbrellas.

It didn't last very long. In the end, you let your hair get wet.

As the two of you walked, Nat's arm was slung across your shoulders, keeping you close to her.

"Hey, do you want to walk over to my house since it's closer?" Nat asked you as you were already walking in that direction.

"Sure, I'll text my mom about it," you responded as you got your phone out to text your mom about your plans to go to Nat's.

You opened your music app and handed Nat an airpod while you were on your phone. She smiled and accepted it.

"What are we listening to?"

"One of my favorite bands, you'll love them."

The music started playing and you nodded your head to the beat. As soon as Nat heard the music, she turned to you, surprised.

"Wait you like that band too??" Nat asked you

Leaning slightly into her, you playfully ask, "Duh. Who doesn't?".

"Y/N/N, they're my favorite! After all these years, and I now know you enjoy their music, I plan on taking you to one of their concerts." (A/N if the band doesn't do concerts anymore, you can think of something else or imagine they still do)

Your smile widens as you look up at her and give a quick kiss on the lips. As you both continue walking, you say, "Sounds great, Natty, I'm looking forward to it.".

The rest of your journey was filled with just you and Nat jamming out to your favorite band and songs as you were walking in the rain to her house. The rain gave you two a very peaceful feeling like it was just you two in your own world.

And you wouldn't imagine it any other way.
