Sitting in the great hall the next morning made me anxious for my father's arrival. He's always punctual and as the clock ticked above the massive door, I fiddled with my hair trying my best to calm my nerves down. It's been years since my father's seen my hair down. What will he think? Would he like it?

I glanced across the room towards Draco to find him already staring at me. He gave me a short but reassuring smile that distracted me enough that when my father walked in, I did not noticed. It was until Dumbledore spoke that my heart stopped.

"My children! Let's give a warm welcome to the Head Auror of the Ministry of Magic," he paused and beckoned someone forward, "my dear friend, Robert Kingsley."

At the mention of my father's name I turned my head to see him walking down the middle aisle of the great hall as the students clapped. He passed along beside me, obviously not recognizing me yet. I sighed, anxiously as I studied him. My father was tall, taller than Draco, and unlike me he has a soft tan that caresses his flawless skin. He looked very young for his age; in fact the only indication of maturity is his facial hair. His brown hair looked polished and perfectly styled just like I remembered. A smile graced his face as he shook hands with Dumbledore and then pulled him into a manly hug. I smiled at my father's friendliness. That's something he has that I don't. He's very charismatic and that's why everyone loves him.

Everyone in the great hall settled down as my father turned to face us. His pale blue eyes shined bright like diamonds giving the girls in the room a reason to swoon. My father was a handsome man with a cocky grin that made others admire and respect him. Then he spoke.

"Good morning," he paused as he assessed the crowed, no doubt looking for me. "I've never been a man to beat around the bush so I'll just come right out and say it. I'm here for many reasons but my main reason is to investigate the cursed necklace that was given to an innocent student. It is obvious that Voldemort is trying to infiltrate Hogwarts and I can assure you that it will not happen. Not while I'm alive."

Then my father went from a serious face to a shocked one.

"Alice?" I gulped. He finally spotted me. I jumped up from my seat and ran outside to the court yard. I heard footstep and I knew that it had to be my father walking up behind me. He paused and cleared his throat, "I think I deserve a better welcoming than that, don't you agree?"

Feeling guilty, I turned around and hugged him. He instantly returned it, making me feel loved. I haven't felt like this in a while. "I missed you, daddy."

"I missed you too, pumpkin." I looked up at him to find him staring down at me in admiration. "You look beautiful sweetheart, the spitting image of your mother."

I smiled. "Thank you." Then I nuzzled my head in his chest and sighed. "I'm sorry for running, I just didn't know if you'd be happy with my appearance."

"Alice! How could you even think that?" He tilted my chin upwards. "I never cared about how you looked and when you started to wear that hat, I let you because I thought it was one of those teenage phases and from the looks of it, I was right," he smirked. "Is it because of a boy?"

"Well.....kind of." I confessed causing his smirk to widen.

"I knew it. Now when can I meet him?"

"Daddy, it's complicated. We like each other but he has a lot of family issues."

"Oh, I see. Well he better sort them out before someone takes you away." He poked my nose and I giggled. "Now I need to go talk with Dumbledore about a few things, I'll see you later."

He went to leave but I stopped him.

"Umm are we going to spend some time together before you leave?" I asked, nervously.
