After writing this I want spaghetti 🍝
"Kai, you look goofy," you teased as she wiped sweaty hands on an spread that read "Kiss the Cook!" In cursive, red letters.
"You keep talking like that and you won't eat tonight," she said, turning the stove temperature down. After a few moments more, she poured the noodles in the pot into a large metal kitchen strainer in the sink. "You ready for my special sauce?"
"I hope my eyes don't fall out of my head or my tongue grows three sizes to big." She rolled her eyes in response, prepping two bowls for the both of you. You watched as she split the portion of noodles evenly, then dipped under the cabinet to pull out an old beer bottle. Instead of a cap, it was sealed with a plastic wrap and a rubber band.
"What's that say?" You pointed a finger at the label scribbled in messy katakana and a couple "x's" over incorrect symbols.
"Says 'Mystery Sauce.'" And that was all she said before pouring the chunky, red concoction into both bowls of food. She handed you some chopsticks and opened a pair of her own.
"Well, let's eat!" She said, the two of you simultaneously lowering your utensils into the bowl and lifting the noodles into your mouth. You half expected a mouthful of something excruciatingly spicy, but as you chewed, you glared at her with an eyebrow raised.
"Really? It's just spaghetti sauce! Had me all worked up for nothing!" She just bursted into a a fit of laughter as you playfully began flicking spaghetti at her.
