You felt as if you were on your last leg as you fell to your knees, gasping greedily for air.
"Anita..." You wheezed, hands falling flat onto the cold pavement. "Slow down! You're going to, you're going to fast!" She stopped, a ways ahead of you, chuckling at the sight. She was far ahead of you, but still close enough to hear her teasing laugh. "I'm glad you find my suffering amusing.'
"You'll get used to it." She came up to you, lifting you up off the ground gently and walking your exhausted, sore body towards a bench.
You had decided to tag along with Anita on one of her early morning runs to the local park-she liked to get her runs in early when little to no people were around. The sun was just coming up, and you didn't listen to her when she told you to stretch before you two left out. Coupled with the fact that you normally didn't exercise, you were a now sweaty, aching mess. She playfully pat your thigh as you threw your head back over the bench and kicked your legs over hers. She handed you her jug of water and you thirstily gulped it down.
"Ugh, I feel so alive," you sighed out finally. "I'm not sure that's a good thing or a bad thing."
"I'm proud of you," She smiled whilst you stared up at the blue-orange tinted sky. "you should've stretched like I told you too though."
"Yeah, I agree."
You both chilled out together for a few more minutes before deciding to call it quits for the day.
"Need some help getting to the car?"
"Yes please."
