The following morning, you and the rest of new recruits excluding Jean, Armin and Eren, are sent south of Wall Sheena with no explanation.
Connie: My village isn't far south of here, you know...
Sasha: My hometown is close by too...
Bored mindless, Connie and Sasha stare out the window while you and Marcel watch Porco and Bertolt play chess.
Connie: Damn. Why can't I go visit? Maybe I'll sneak out at night.
Sasha: They told me not to come back until I'm normal.
Connie: They told me I was too puny to be a soldier. Was genius enough to be one, though, I was in our class' top ten. I'm gonna go make 'em eat their words.
Marcel: Connie, if you're serious, I'll help.
Connie: What? How come?
Marcel: Doesn't it seem strange? We're on standby in our plain clothes, and we're not allowed to train or wear our uniforms.
Standing up, Marcel glares outside at the other officers.
Marcel: What's even more suspicious... is that everyone else is fully armed. We're inside the wall, not on the front line. Who are we fighting?
Connie: Well, there are bears in this area.
Sasha: Yeah, bears.
Sitting back down, Marcel rolls his eyes and sighs.
Marcel: Guns are enough to handle bears.
Yuna: I'll help too, Connie.
Marcel: No you won't. One more mess up from you and you'll be kicked out of the scouts.
Laying with your head on the table, something suddenly makes you sit up.
Marcel: What?
Yuna: I hear thuds. It sounds like footsteps!
Connie: Huh?
As everyone stops and looks over, Porco hisses.
Porco: Get real. If you're suggesting there are titans here that'd mean Wall Rose has fallen.
Sasha: It's the truth! I hear it too!
Right when you break out into an argument, Nanaba lands at the window.
Nanaba: Everyone here? Multiple titans, 500 meters to the south. They're coming right this way.
Immediately, the room stiffens.
Nanaba: There's no time for you to gear up. Take your horses and evacuate all the nearby homes and settlements. Understood?
Connie: From... the south?
Porco: Has the wall been breached?!
As Porco panickily turns to Marcel and Bertolt, they share his disbelief.
Devising a plan to get the word out as quickly as possible, you split into four groups and scatter in each direction as soon as the titans reach the woods.
Strangely enough, the moment you do the titans change direction and Miche is forced to stay behind and engage in combat.
While Porco and Bertolt accompany Connie south, Marcel is forced to go north with Sasha and you go west.
By the time all the towns in the area were notified, daylight was fading fast. Unfortunately, there was still the issue of locating the hole in the wall.
Left with no other choice, your group circles back to inspect the wall well into the night. The longer it went on, the worse the suspense grew. It was only a matter of time until you found the hole and all your senses were heightened.
