i still cannot believe that andy fletcher died. it still seems so unreal. i started this book back in 2017, with depeche mode just about to release an album and tour.
i still plan on writing this book, i've been writing it intermittently for five years now! i just wanted to use this to acknowledge the passing of andrew fletcher, as he was one of the founding members of depeche mode, and way less importantly, a character in this book.
i still cannot fathom the pain his family and friends are feeling.
this is the first time i've ever had to grieve a beloved artist of mine: i wasn't really listening to 'good' music when david bowie and george michael died.
people would always downplay and belittle andy's contribution to the band, and that irritated me. anyone who knows anything about depeche knows that's simply untrue. what was shocking were the people callously saying that so close to the time of his death. people are heartless.
i have a lot still planned for this book, i just want some distance between the passing of andy and the next chapter. it wouldn't feel right, you know?
i hope all my lovely readers are well.
