Double update Pt 2

Ayla/Dove's POV
Age: 10
Location: Ricci's Manion, New York

"Do I have to go?" I ask, itching at the thick stockings on my legs.

"Yes. Your school is important," Mama says as she fusses with the buttons on my blazer.

The uniform for girls is the exact same as the boys, except we have to wear red checkered skirts instead of pants. Dante says that the school allows girls to wear pants as well, but I want to try the skirt.

Mama smiles proudly as she looks me over, pleased with my appearance. "Are you sure you don't want to wear pants? I know how uncomfortable you are in skirts."

"Can I just wear pajamas and not go to school?" I ask.

Mama laughs and shakes her head. "You're just like your brothers. And no, you have to go."

"But I'll be the only kid!"

"Your friends will join you next week."

Rio, Lucky, and Blue's parents wanted to keep them home for another week or so to spend time with them and help them settle in. I know they're also worried about the injuries we sustained during the ball.

As much as I want my friends to be close to their families, I don't want to go to school on my own.

"Ready to go?" Dad asks as he walks into the room. He grins when he sees my pouty face. "You look so pretty principessa."

"Dad! Hurry up!" Dylan yells from downstairs. "I promised Kaiah I'd get to school early!"

"Ooooh Dylan is going to hook up with Kaiah!" Dante teases.

"You're what!?" Daniel yells from his room, slamming the door open and stomping downstairs.

"Hey! Shut up! I'm trying to work up here!" Luca yells from his lab on the third floor.

Dad chuckles quietly. "Let's go. We wouldn't want Dylan to miss his date with Kaiah."

"Have fun today," Mama says, kissing the top of my head.

"You're not coming?" I ask.

She shakes her head apologetically. "I have a meeting today. But I'll pick you up from school."

I sigh, but nod anyways and follow Dad downstairs to my brothers. Dylan and Daniel are bickering quietly with one another.

"We made a deal," Daniel whispers angrily.

"We're just doing homework," Dylan responds.

"In an empty classroom?!" Daniel huffs.

"Boys," Dad warns.

They glare at each other, but stop arguing.

"I didn't know they make uniforms this small," Dante says, tugging at my blazer.

I swat his hand away, not wanting him to mess up the meticulous work Mama did.

"They don't. We had them custom-made," Dad answers.

He picks up his briefcase from the floor before grabbing my hand and leaving the house.

There's already a car waiting out front for us. Dad opens the backdoor and tries to help me into the car seat set up for me.

"Do I have to sit in that?" I whine. I'm already ten years old, according to Google, I don't have to use one anymore.

Not that I ever used one.
