Heather's POV
I was back on my way to the jail cell and I still can not get over knowing that Mark is going to get executed soon.
And now our plan to escape is down the toilet.
There's no way I can do it without the help of Mark, I'm not skilled enough.
Apparently he can make the ladders from anything he can find, and obviously, I can't do that.
I'll have to ask Scarlett if she knows how to do that stuff, because if not, this whole plan was for nothing.
Unless if we can break out before his execution, so we can totally avoid it.
And just now, we sadly arrived at the jail cell.
I was walked in, with handcuffs and thrown inside my cell with Scarlett.
"So, how'd it go?" Scarlett asked
"Bad." I said
She looked surprised.
"Oh, what do you mean by "bad"?" She asked
"He was ruled guilty." I said
"Oh, ok. Well, to be fair, it's not like that was unexpected, all the odds were pretty much against him, also with having a terrible lawyer." Scarlett said
"He actually wasn't that bad of a lawyer." I said
"Really? How do?" She asked
"He made some great points throughout the court session, and made me have some hope for a bit, a lot better than I thought." I said
"Oh that's surprising. At least it wasn't embarrassing for you guys." She said
"Well, Mark being ruled guilty, wasn't really the bad part." I said
"What do you mean?" Scarlett asked
"Well, the verdict and punishment for the crime, that the judge ruled, was well, execution." I said
"Oh god." She said
Then Scarlett walked away, and started to pace all around the cell, obviously stressed.
"This sucks." She said
"How are we supposed to escape now?"
"I don't know, it's a huge problem." I said
"Holy shit, Mark is an idiot." Scarlett said
"You don't think I know that?!" I asked rhetorically
"What are we supposed to do now?" She asked
"Any chance, you know how to make a ladder out of bamboo by the old factory, by any chance?" I asked
Then she gave me a look of why would I know how to do that.
"Why would I know how to do that?" Scarlett asked
"Well, I was just asking, because since Mark is about to die, we need someone who can do the things he is able to do, during when the plan is in motion." I said
