Summer was approaching fast and Eddie was falling. Steve was somehow passing and on his way to graduation. Eddie didn't want to redo high school again but he also didn't have any plans. He wanted to be a rock star but that was just a dream."Hey Stevie, when are you taking your children to the arcade?" Eddie asks as he looks through Steve's closet. He smirks as he pulls out something.
"They're not my kids and they all have rides now," Steve tells him
"What do you have?" Steve questions his boyfriend. Eddie puts on the jacket he found.
"You like it?" Eddie teases as wears Steve's letterman jacket
"You're an idiot" Steve rolls his eyes
"Take me to prom Stevie?" Eddie jokes
"Sorry I'm taking someone else" Steve jokes back
"You wound me, Harrington," Eddie rolls his eyes
"You look good in it" Steve whispers in Eddie's ear and hugs him from behind.
"Steve, keep it in your pants," Eddie teases. He turns around and Steve kisses him.
As the kiss gets more intense and heated, someone knocks at Steve's door.
"Just let it be" Eddie mumbles on Steve's lips
"I'll be quick," Steve says and he makes his way downstairs.
"Jesus Christ Steve, wait do you have a girl over?" Dustin asks
"What no and what do you want?" Steve lies and he tries to fix his hair and clothes.
"Well everyone canceled on the arcade so I thought my good friend Steve could use the company so wanna hang?" When Dustin asks he looks like he needs Steve to say yes. Maybe it's just how Steve saw it.
"um one second okay," Steve says, closing the door and running upstairs.
"Hey babe so um Dustin here," Steve says
"You need me to sneak out?" Eddie asks
"Well I mean if you want you can meet him but he already thinks I have a girl over so," Steve says
"Steve it's fine I'll just climb out your window," Eddie says
"You climb out a window it's fine Eddie just walk out the door," Steve tells his boyfriend.
"Steve you just said he thinks you have a girl over" Eddie points out
"Eddie you are the most important person to me and so is Dustin and I want you two to meet" Steve admits
"Are you sure because I can still climb out a window" Eddie offers
"Eddie, we both know you'd die you've failed gym more than twice" Steve laughs
"Steve, did you die in there?" They hear Dustin yell. Steve walks downstairs but Eddie waits a minute
"What are you doing inside my house? I told you to wait outside" Steve tries to be angry but he can't. Dustin makes a mocking face but stops when he sees Eddie walk down the stairs.
Dustin is visibly confused.
"Um this is Eddie my b- my friend" Steve stutters
"You two are friends?" Dustin raises an eyebrow and Steve smacks the back of his head
"You're Dustin right?" Eddie asks already knowing the answer
"You tell your friends about me?" Dustin smiles so big
"Yeah yeah thanks for throwing me under the bus Eds" Steve is also smiling Eddie just smirks
"So I'll see you later Steve," Eddie says
"Eddie you should stay we can all hang out," Dustin says before Steve can
"You sure I don't want to cut into mother-son time" He jokes
"You're a jerk but yes stay please you're both my only friends," Steve says
"Friends Steve I thought we were more" Eddie gasps and Steve freezes
"I thought we were best friends" Eddie jokes
"Sorry man Steve and I have been through way too much together to not be best friends so better luck next time man" Dustin jokes but it comes off a bit hostile
"Steve how could a ten-year-old beat me to being your best friend" Eddie pouts
"I'm fourteen" Dustin mumbles
"Dustin he's joking Eddie and I have a different friendship" Steve was going to tell Dustin but it didn't come out. The three walked to Steve's living room and Eddie and Steve sat way too close together for just friends but it was a habit and they forgot that Dustin didn't know about them. Dustin sat on the other side of the couch not paying attention to the secret couple.
"Anyways Steve I came here to hang out but also to ask you if on Friday you could host D&D here because Mrs. Wheeler said no at mikes so please please plea-" Dustin starts begging
"Wait kid, you like D&D? Stevie please let them please please plea-" Eddie starts begging as well
"Both of you shut up fine but I am not playing and only this once okay" Steve rolls his eyes
"Well it's the last game before summer and then I go to camp so it will be super special" Dustin explains
"You're going to camp" Steve's voice cracks
"I'm so excited it's the first time I'm leaving Hawkins since I moved here" Dustin smiles so brightly
"Well I guess Steve and I will hang out way more doing our bro stuff" Eddie tries to make Steve feel better
"Did your mom think this through? Why didn't you tell me sooner? Should I talk to your mom? I can drive you there if you need-" Steve starts rambling
"Stevie my lo- I think Dustin's mom knows what she said yes too and I'm sure she can drive her son to camp" Eddie rubs Steve's back and Dustin raises an eyebrow
"It's a bus that picks us up so no drive me there," Dustin says
"Can I call you Stevie Steve?" Dustin asks
"What?" Steve is now confused
"I mean Eddie called you Stevie twice so I was just wondering" Dustin explains.
"Sorry little guy it's a nickname only I can use," Eddie says
"You know if you two weren't both boys you'd make a great couple and Steve has been single for way too long we should get him a girlfriend," Dustin points out.
"Why do I need a girlfriend and why do you need to find one for me?" Steve asks
"Because we're your only friends and you're without a girlfriend, I'm just weird all the girls used to like you, '' Dustin says like it's the simplest thing in the world.
"But wait if I didn't want a GIRLfriend" Steve stutters but Dustin doesn't get it
"Then you'd be single" Dustin gives him a dumbfounded look.
"No, but like what if I didn't want a GIRLfriend" Steve is trying his best and Eddie looks at him proudly
"Like a boy- like a boyfriend you want a boyfriend?" Dustin asks with shock on his face
"NO I don't want a boyfriend but what if I did how would you feel?" Steve asks. Eddie is rubbing Steve's back with one hand and his other is on top of Steve's hands.
"I mean it'd be a little weird because you've always been with girls but I wouldn't care why do you ask?" Dustin asks. He was starting to get it he looked at Steve and Eddie's hands and Eddie's hand going up and down his friend's back
"Just asking" Is all Steve can say.
"Okay, anyways Steve, can you drive me home?" Dustin asks
"Sure thing Eddie you good here alone for a few?" Steve asks his boyfriend
"Yup," Eddie says.
Steve and Dustin get into the car. Steve starts the car and drives off. The car ride is silent until Dustin speaks up.
"You know Steve if- if you did have a boyfriend I would have to meet him OFFICIALLY to you know to make sure he's good for you," Dustin says looking over at Steve.
"Really?" Steve's heart is melting.
"Yeah I mean of course just to let him know I'm your best friend and he never will be and the same goes for girlfriends," Dustin says
"You'll always be my best friend" Steve reassures him
"So Eddie seems cool" Dustin tries to see where it goes
"Oh look your stop" Steve is so thankful now is the time he chose to bring it up.
"Oh well bye Steve and tell Eddie I think he's cool but I'm your best friend," Dustin says as he closes the door and walks inside his house.
The drive back to Steve's made Steve feel better, he felt calm like everything was going to be okay for him and Eddie.
