Chapter 18

As I helped take care of the warlocks, I got a call from Raphael.

"Hello, mijo." I told him

"Hi, mamma." He said but I could hear the struggle

"What's wrong, mijo?" I asked him

"I did something bad. Isabelle... I've been feeding from her." he told me

"What! Raphael. Tell me you have stopped." I told him

"I have, but there is something else." He told me

"What is it?" I asked

"One of my vamps told me that Valentine has taken over the Institute." He told me

"Is Alec okay? What is he planning?" I asked him

"From what I heard, Alec is inside. I don't know what Valentine is planning. I was hoping you would know." He told me

I stayed quiet, thinking of a reason before I gasped in realization.

"He plans on using the angelic power from the Institute's core to activate the Soul Sword." I said

I heard as he growled.

"What! No! I will stop him." He said before hanging up.

I opened a portal, appearing in front of the Institute. I look around me seeing Jace holding a sword at Raphael. Before, I thought of anything, I lightly threw Jace away from Raphael, standing in between them.

"What do you think you are doing!?" I yelled at him

"He was trying to kill Clary." Jace told me 

"If it means us downworlders will be alive, then so be it." I said as I grabbed Raphael's hand pushing him more behind me as we walked slowly away.

"Clary may be able to activate the sword, but I can destroy it. The angel Ithuriel confirmed that in a vision." Jace told us

"Angel? Impossible." Raphael said

"I saw it too. He's telling the truth." Clary confirmed

"You kill Clary, Valentine still has the damn sword. Over time, no doubt, he'll find a way to activate it. Now is our chance to destroy that sword for good. Why not let Jace try?" Luke said

I walked away from Raphael, towards Magnus, knowing he is safe. I grabbed Magnus hand, allowing the warmth and comfort flow through me.

"Why would a Shadowhunter risk his life for us?" Maia asked

"Because you and Raphael are gonna tell your Downworld buddies not to lay a hand on Clary. That's the deal." Jace told them

"And they'll listen to me?" Raphael asked

"Maybe. You're the leader of the most powerful vampire clan in all of New York. they respect you." Jace told him

I watched as Raphael thought about it, turning his head towards me. I just nodded my head.

"What exactly is your plan?" Raphael asked 

Soon, we were told it. Magnus and I started gathering warlocks. We bought enough to stop Valentine. I had gathered the warlocks in my lair, who willing came. I had over thirty warlocks with me. 

"Magnus, you go with Clary. I will stay with the warlocks." I told him

"Are you sure?" Magnus asked

"Yes, just promise me you'll be safe." I told him

"I promise. You be safe too. I can't lose you, too." He told me

I kissed him and watched as Clary and Magnus disappeared.

"Now, warlocks when you see the wolves start running, we follow." I told them

Now we were just playing the waiting game.

I go near Raphael. I grab his hand before connecting our minds.

"Raphael, you stay next to me when we get in there." I told him

"Mamma, I must stay with the vampires." He told me

"Okay, then I'll be with you. If things look bad, I will get us out of there. You hear me." I told him

"I understand, mamma." He said before I broke the connection

We all kneeled until we heard the signal

"Let's move." Luke said

We all ran inside, me next to Rafael, until I saw Valentine lift the sword. I immediately opened a portal, grabbing Raphael as we disappeared from the Institute. We appeared in my lair.

I couldn't even take a moment before I started worrying about Magnus. Did he get out? Did he make it? Oh my god, all my people. I led them to their deaths.

"Come, mamma. We have to check on our people." Rafael said grabbing my hand speeding us away

"Raphael, stop." I said as he stopped running

"What's wrong?" He asked

"Go home. I'll teleport home. Check on your people." I told him

"It's okay. I'll take you home first." he told me

"No! the sun is almost up. I won't be the reason you can't check on your people. Just go, I'll be okay." I told him

"Fine but call or message me when you have news." He told me before speeding away

I took a deep breath, " Faire a voir la re" I said before I saw him. I opened a portal to the front of the Institute and saw Magnus and Alec hugging.

"Have you seen Stella? Did she make it out?" Alec asked

"Stella." Magnus whispered as he saw me

I couldn't get a word out before, he hugged me. Soon Alec, joined, squeezing the life out of me.

"I'm okay. I portaled out as soon as I saw Valentine with the Soul Sword with Raphael." i told them

"I portaled out with Madzie. I took her to Caterina's. She safe." Magnus told us

"Look... Magnus, Stella, on every mission I've ever been on, I've never felt that type of fear, ever. Not knowing if y'all were alive or dead. I... I was terrified." Alec told us

"So was I." I said grabbing his cheek, while Magnus grabbed his arm.

"Stella, Magnus...  I love you two" Alec told us 

"I love you too." Magnus and I said at the same time

Soon Alec grabbed Magnus kissing him before kissing me. After he released us for air, we just hugged each other. I was stuck in the middle.

Soon, we went inside the Institute. 

"I'll meet with you guys later." Alec said walking away

"Magnus, we have to collect the bodies of our fallen." I told him sadly knowing it was my fault they died

"Stella, it was not your fault. It was valentine's fault. Do not blame yourself." Magnus told me

I sighed but nodded my head anyways. We used our magic and portaled away with the bodies, giving them a farewell.
