Her heart (short)

Yujin exhaustingly sat by the bench after going through an intense run instructed by the gym teacher.

She reaches for a bottle of water as Yena joins beside her. They're classmates.

"Bro, I'm about to die. Give me some." The duck wiggles her fingers for Yujin to pass her the bottle after she's done.

The girl did, leaning back against the bench.

Yena lets out a satisfied sigh, capping the bottle. "Why are you so fast?" she asks.

Yujin looks at her. She smacks her leg, telling her these long legs are the reason.

When it really isn't.

She continues resting with no visible emotion in her eyes.

"Give me some tips." Yena suddenly busts out. "I need to pass my physical test next week."

"Go get your heart broken." Yujin said.

Yena nods. "I've heard of that one. Is it effective? You'll just start being able to run like Sonic and do everything beyond your body's capacity."

She looks at her friend who said no reply. And that's when she realises something was wrong with this optimistic puppy of hers.

Yena glances out at the field to see a group of girls playing frisbee.

"You, okay?" she sat nearer, worriedly looking at Yujin.

The latter smiles and nods.

"You didn't break your record because of that. You didn't go through a heartbreak, right?"

She follows where Yujin's gaze lands, seeing a girl who was sitting by the side, cheering on the rest who were playing.

"I didn't go through a heartbreak." Yujin finally spoke. "I'm still in the heartbreak." she looks at Yena.

"You'll have to be inside to beat your record." she chuckles as if everything was fine.

Yena knows this is what Yujin is like whenever she gets hurt or is in pain. Instead of telling others, she'll laugh it off as if it was nothing when the latter is probably on the verge of losing herself.

Somehow, Yujin would just keep trying to make others happy when she herself isn't.

Yena understands her as she herself is someone who feels pressured to make others laugh. There isn't one time they've showed their weaker side to anyone.

"Why is my friend sad? The way you're speaking is making me sad." Yena cups the back of Yujin's neck, gradually pulling the girl closer.

"I'm not sad." Yujin slaps her shoulder.

"Then why am I getting that from you?" she looks afar. "Minju? Why? What did she do?"

"She didn't do anything."

"Why don't you guys talk as much anymore? You were so close. Seeing you guys drift is something I don't wanna see."

"But sometimes it has to happen." Yujin's reply made her speechless.

Yena opens her mouth when Yujin says, "It wasn't even her fault. Why are you making it sound like it is?"

"What's wrong? What happened? You two were okay all along. What did she do that made you all...like this? What did you do?"

"I confessed to her."

The whole atmosphere dims down by a ton the moment Yujin uttered those words.

Yena didn't know what to say but she knew the girl was fond of her best friend. It's just a little secret of hers but she managed to tell it to Yena.

There were many worries, ups and downs regarding the latter's feelings towards this particular girl.
