its not goodbye, just see you later
you waltzed over to me at that party,
with a subtle energy that softened my habitual anxiety towards strangers.
foreheads pressed against one another
you introduced yourself to me,
and I to you.we'll meet again
not so gracefully reaching for my hand, intertwining our fingers,
you began to chip away at my hard exterior,
i think thats when it all changed.i'll see you soon
just short of a week later,
cradling your head in my lap
i worked up the courage meet your lips.seeing you became routine,
and when I couldn't, it felt as if something was missing.so we sat at starbucks, goodwill,
or any space that would have us.
reading old love poems,
talking about everything and nothing,
though we knew the hours were ticking towards our expiration date.i had never met anyone quite like you,
someone so perfect for me,
but circumstance had its way:
a soulmate, not meant to be.i think often on how you said our story isn't over,
how the chapters aren't planed,
that the ending is up to us.soon i'll get lost in our memories,
the gentle evergreen moments we shared this summer.
but for now,
i'll reside in our goodbye under the full moon,
sobbing my heart out."i'll see you soon, goodbye hurts too much"
