Beauty
By vallwrites

~

We often forget just how beautiful this world is.
We often believe that it is a dark and scary place,
and I am guilty to having also believed that.
What we don't realise
is that it is not the world that is depressing and slowly destroying us,
it's the people in it.
I wander this earth,
staring at the sunlight that shines through the leaves in the tree,
warming my skin,
blessing me.
I extend my arms and close my eyes,
feeling the wind between my finger tips,
smiling at the way it blows back my hair.
I hear the birds singing,
flying around in groups,
so unlike humans in their beautiful way.
They're not angry,
not vengeful,
they're simply peaceful,
doing all the right things and just living.
Like I said,
they're so different to us humans.
I look at the waves that clash against the rocks of land,
I sigh contently as I hear them wash up on the sand where they steal the grains to take with them.
The sand is golden,
made lighter by the scorching sun.
It's soft in my hands,
running through my fingers
and flying in the wind,
shimmering in the sun,
just like she sea which reflects it.
This world is beautiful,
but we seem to mistake the traumas and events that take place in it
and place it on the world itself.
We blame the world,
even though it is simply innocent,
a floating rock with no choice in the matter
of who or what lives on it.
Not only do I see the beauty before me,
I see the beauty within.
