It's not even two in the morning yet, and I've already burnt a bagel. Good job, June, you're doing great.
I scrape as much of the blackened bits into the sink as I can and smear on an unhealthy amount of butter to cover the charcoal taste.
My mouth full, I decide to only eat half and save the rest for my actual breakfast. I stumble around in the dark until I find a pad of sticky notes hidden away in the back of a drawer. I scrawl out a large JUNE, saran wrap the second half, and stick it in the fridge. The refrigerator door makes a weird creaking noise when it shuts, which Mum refuses to fix, for some reason.
My room is completely dark except for the glow-in-the dark stars, which, for the most part, are completely faded. I turn on the lamp next to my bed and retrieve my phone from the nightstand. No new messages. Guess everyone's asleep.
Well. Not everyone.
