North dreamed he was lying on his back, looking up at the stars in the night sky.

"The stars are so different here." A voice echoed in North's head. He turned and saw the wolf from Luke's video sitting next to him.

"I didn't think you were real."

"Will you work with me to protect your family, my pack? Will you help me keep our mates safe?"

"Is that even a question? I would do anything to keep Sang safe."

"Most importantly, will you help me get revenge on your brother?"

"Gladly."

They both turned their attention back to the stars above them.

North tried to keep his focus on keeping the ambulance in one lane instead of fixating on Sang. Silas was the one who usually drove the ambulance, but he needed to stay with Sang to keep her out of excruciating pain. And, damn it, now the steering wheel had a brand new dent in it and his hand hurt.

"Everything alright up there?" Nathan asked from the back, where he was stretched out on the gurney. North's only reply was a grunt.

"Okay...," he drawled, "good talk!" Nathan called back with a laugh.

Once again, North tried to put everything out of his mind, but the sound of her screams still echoed in his head.

He had woken up still wrapped around Sang. She was still asleep and it felt so right, being in bed with her, wrapped around each other. He pressed a kiss to her forehead and she let out a happy little sigh as she started to wake up. Then, immediately, she was screaming. The voice of the wolf from his dream started barking in his head to get his wrist near her face so she could smell his scent, and that yelling was not helping, which was easy for the disembodied voice to say LOUDLY in his head.

He had cupped her cheek and she had instantly froze. Her breath rushed out in a whine across his wrist, and before he could realize anything had happened, she was across the room. The bedroom door opened right before she got to it, and she ran, literally, into Silas's arms.

North was shocked when sweet little Sang Baby turned into a vicious hellcat. She fought Silas's grip, and when he didn't immediately release her, she screamed in his face.

Silas tightened his arms to just shy of bruising, while a look of concentration settled onto his face. As he murmured to her in Greek, telling her that anyone would bolt after waking up next to North, the fight drained out of her.

North could barely hear her weak admonishment to Silas about teasing, then Silas shifted her into a bridal carry and carried her into the closet. Gabe appeared behind them.

"What the hell was that about?" North barked.

"Ask your fucking wolf or wait until Mr. B can tell you. Here." He threw an EMT uniform at him. "Get dressed and get out there. We need to get Victor out of his house. Sang doesn't have much time."

"What's wrong with Sang? What's happening with Victor?"

"I repeat! Ask your fucking wolf or wait for Mr. B. Either way, GET DRESSED!" Gabe stomped into the closet and slammed the door.

After that, time moved fast and soon he found himself with his orders and in the driver seat of the ambulance.

And, now, he was still fuming. He had left Sang alone in that attic. She was in pain. Victor was being hurt. Everything was a giant clusterfuck and there was very little he could do to help.
