They say, the sparrow talks too much
And hence, she can't fly
Even to keep her dear life from the hunter.
And so they preach; "Don't be like a sparrow,
Always talking with no good use."
They say, the eagle is silent like silence,
And hence he flies above the clouds
Unstirred even in the wildest storms.
And so they preach, "Be like an eagle,
Speak less and fly high."
I say, "Can I be the cuckoo?
Hidden in the leaves,
Uncatchable by the eyes,
Only to be heard in echos
Of beautiful melodies?
Solitary life on solitary trees
Singing of love, singing of tragedies?"
