It was an unfortunate meeting, but regardless it still happened.
This was after his kid was born and he left him to go and be a hunter, and then he met you.
You needed help with your nen, and he was a very bored man who was attracted to you and it annoyed you.
So your first meeting went a little like:
"Hey-"
"Go to hell I'm focused.''
"I can teach you how to use nen."
"Come back I'm intrested."
And from that point on it was like be was dealing with himself, but more aggressive in a lot of ways.
