(n.) The sense that the future is coming too quickly

--------------------

[M/n] sat on the dragon figure head at the front of the Bounty, one leg dangling over the side, while the other was pulled up to his chest, so he could rest his chin on his knee.

'I'll swim and sail on savage seas

With ne'er a fear of drowning

And I'll gladly ride the waves of life

If you will marry me

No scorching sun

Nor freezing

Will stop me on my journey

If you will promise me your heart

And love . . .'

His voice trailed off as he blinked away tears and swallowed past the choking feeling in his throat. Before he could continue, a second voice picked up the second verse.

'And love me for eternity'

[M/n] turned his head and saw Lloyd standing behind him with a smile, holding out his hand as he began singing.

'My dearest one, my darling dear

Your mighty words astound me

But I've no need of mighty deeds

When I feel your arms around me'

[M/n] slipped his hand into Lloyds, allowing the blond to pull him off the dragon and into a dance.

'But I would bring you rings of gold

I'd even sing you poetry 'Oh, would y' '

And I would keep you from all harm

If you would stay beside me'

They spun around each other, laughing as they danced.

'I have no use for rings of gold

I care not for your poetry

I only want your hand to hold'

'I only want you near me'

'To love and kiss, to sweetly hold

For the dancing and the dreaming

Through all life's sorrows and delights

I'll keep your laugh inside me

I'll swim and sail on savage seas

With ne'er a fear of drowning

If you will marry me!'

The song ended in laughter, as they collapsed into each others arms. Reaching up, [M/n] lightly ran his fingers through Lloyd's blond locks, eyes soft.

"Cole helped me fix up the bed under yours." While his voice was calm, [M/n] could feel the disappointment and sadness that lingered at the edges of their bond.

[M/n] chuckled softly, pulling Lloyd down so they could sit on the deck. With ease, the curled around each other, not wanting to be seperated just yet.

"I'm sorry," [M/n] whispered into the silence.

"For what?"

"For letting this happen to you. For being to scared to even face the Grundal," [M/n] stated, bitterly.

"You didn't let this happen, you even tried to stop me. It happened because it was the only way to stop the Grundal and turn you guys back to normal," Lloyd refuted, turning so he could look [M/n] in the eyes. "And don't even say you were too scared to face the Grundal. You stood in front of me even though you were terrified."

[M/n] sighed, dropping his head forward softly so he could press his forehead to Lloyd's. "Okay." Neither of them moved, simply existing in the same space.

"I never got to ask you before, at Darkely's, but who is Morro?" Lloyd asked, emerald eyes searching [M/n]'s.

[M/n] was silent for a minute, struggling to find the words. "He was my partner. In fighting, in life," [M/n] said, before smirking and adding, "In bed."

Lloyd snickered, blushing, and rolling his eyes, affectionally. "What was he like?"

"He was . . . confident, brutally honest, direct and strong-willed, but he was so damned stubborn and impatient. He pushed himself to be the best in everything he did," [M/n] remarked, closing his eyes as he pulled on all of the memories of Morro he could as he smiled fondly. He didn't notice the sadness on Lloyd's face as he saw how much [M/n] still loved Morro. "He was an incredible fighter, fast and strong like a viper. And sarcastic, always so sarcastic."

"You reminded me of him at first. Confident, strong-willed and stubborn." Lloyd barely managed a half smile. "But as I got to know you better, I saw how different you are; charismatic, thoughtful, and empathetic."

"Really?"

"Really."

"Do you . . . Do you miss him?"

"I do. A lot," [M/n] admitted. "But it hurts less when I'm with you. You give me something to protect and care for, instead of wallowing in grief."

"Well, I'm always happy to help," Lloyd teased, grinning as he playfully nudged [M/n] who snorted before tackling him to the ground. Lloyd yelped, and the two began play-wrestling across the deck of the Bounty. After a minute or two, [M/n] flipped Lloyd onto his stomach and pinned him to the ground, not even out of breath. "I think I need to train more."

"You'll need a lot of training to beat me, Liakáda. Now, come on. It's time for bed."

"Fine," Lloyd pouted, rolling over so [M/n] could help pull him up to his feet. Hands entertwined, they quietly headed down to their bedroom and slipped inside, careful not to wake the other ninja. Lloyd paused at their bunk, staring at his bed in disdain.

Smiling, [M/n] tugged Lloyd down a bit so he could press a kiss against his blond hair. "You can sleep in your bed another night, Liakáda."

Lloyd brightened up, climbing up the ladder into the top bunk as [M/n] followed. They curled close together, with Lloyd's head on [M/n]'s chest, and passed out.
