I moved onto the Great Raven's old home-patch, as she now lived on the Great Tree. After a few weeks of living in the meadow, I decided to visit my mother and siblings. Unfortunately, my mother had been eaten for a holiday dinner and my siblings had been sold to other farmers. I returned to the meadow, thinking how my life would have been if I had stayed on the farm. I smiled, remembering my tumble in the river, my fear of the snake and horror when I was given to the Great Hawk, I mean, when I was given to Coniferous. I remembered meeting Alysse, being inside the snake's mouth and watching one of my first friends get killed. I remembered my pride to know the Great Raven so well, even if I had barely met her. Now, I fit in with the other birds of the meadow. I was one of them, just like the Great Raven had hoped for. She was one of us too. The meadow was thriving. Everyone was happy, and we all greeted each other as friends even if we didn't know each other very well.
My life was perfect.
