PHILOSOPHER.
Chapter 03.
╚═══════

Mattheo isn't sure what he's to do - he sits in the upstairs window ledge just staring down at the giant in the porch. He's almost too big to fit inside of the porch.

Reagan races out of his bedroom in his robe and slippers. He has no weapon in his hand, other than a piece of thin twisted wood in his hand, it almost looks like it's supposed to be a wand or something.

"Stay put!" Reagan barks at his nephew, and then jogs down the stairs.

Mattheo isn't about to do what he's told by his uncle. Seeing his uncle in a blue furry dressing gown is too funny not to laugh at, and the face cream he puts on his face.

Reagan moves with purpose down the stairs of the house. It's been so long since he's used his magic that he doesn't even know if he'll be able to cast.

Mattheo of course sneaks downstairs, and then takes refuge behind the couch, so he remains unseen by his uncle and the visitor. The perfect spot for Mattheo to eavesdrop on the conversation between Reagan and the giant.

Delphini jogs down the stairs and joins Mattheo in his hiding spot behind the couch.

"What on Earth is happening?" Delphini asks her brother, worry in her voice.

Mattheo shrugs. "I have no idea" Mattheo replies. "I saw a giant figure outside the house. It looks as though he's trying to gain entry" Mattheo informs Delphini of his intel.

Reagan raises his wand and points it at the door. "Whomever is trying to break and enter, I warn you, I am armed" Reagan growls at the door.

Reagan's grip upon his wand handle tightens, fear in his mind wreaking havoc on his body, he doesn't know if he has enough magic to defend the house.

Mattheo and Delphini can both see the tremble in Reagan's legs.

The fist of the large giant pounds one last time against the door. The wooden door is no match for his strength. And the door begins to break into pieces at the constant powerful strikes.

The door finally breaks down into a mist of splinters that litter the floor of the Living Room. The cold night air rushes into the house, and sets a chill on the bodies of the three residents.

The giant has to crouch over and shimmy sideways just to get through the door - he barely fits even then.

The giant stands up full figure and is twice the size of any of the staff - and doubly as thick. The thick bushy beard and moustache hide his face - and makes him more intimidating.

Reagan reacts in a way that Mattheo and Delphini will never forget. He flicks the piece of wood in his hand, and a streak of red light erupts from the tip.

The giant waves what looks like a pink umbrella, and the light stops in its tracks. Even the giant is able to fend off Reagan's weakened magic.

And even though he's just been attacked, the giant still manages to put on the most friendly smile. "Sorry abou' tha'" the giant apologises to Reagan.
