PHILOSOPHER.
Chapter 05.
╚═══════✧₊∘╝Mattheo isn't able to sleep all night, a mixture of excitement from the day, and nerves about tomorrow. He and Delphini took two rooms at the Leaky Cauldron for the evening, it will make for a much quick journey to King's Cross Station for them in the morning, rather than scrambling back from America. Hagrid had to return to Hogwarts to deliver the mysterious package he picked up from Gringotts, which he still wouldn't talk about to either Mattheo or Delphini.
Mattheo has been sat in the window sill with one of his books on his lap, a way for him to disconnect from everything for a little while. Mattheo barely hears the knocking at the door as his mind is elsewhere.
"Come in?" Mattheo calls over to the door.
The door opens, and he knew it would be his sister. It's a twin connection thing that they can both sometimes sense each other.
Delphini comes in, wearing her dressing gown and fluffy bunny slippers.
A lot has happened in the past 24 hours, to the both of them. This time yesterday they were still under Reagan's thumb, and completely in the dark about their heritage. Mattheo knows the reason why Delphini has come, and it's because they still have to talk about everything that has happened to them today. This is the first time they've been alone with each, and can talk in private.
"You lasted longer than I thought. I thought you'd be straight here when Hagrid left" Mattheo tells his sister. Only another half-hour and Mattheo would have gone to her instead.
Mattheo puts his bookmark into his book, then he slides down so he can sit cross-legged on his bed.
Delphini wanders in and takes a seat on the floor. "I don't know what to think of it all. Me and you, magical?" Delphini questions herself. It sounds like some colossal joke as she says it out loud.
Delphini always thought that she and Mattheo were meant for something more. That they could have something better than their life in Arcanville. Delphini never could she have imagined they would be famous people in a world of magic, and that Mattheo, as a baby, stopped the most powerful dark wizard of all time.
Mattheo's mind is racing with thought of this dark wizard, this You-Know-Who, he killed their parents. Only a few hours ago did he even learn the name of his parents. Uncle Reagan never spoke about them.
"I guess it's nice to know that they wanted us" Mattheo tells Delphini. They've always hated that they were abandoned to Reagan. "All of this time wondering why they didn't want us, and they gave their lives to protect us?" Mattheo says to Delphini.
"Someone could have found a way to tell us, Matt. They didn't have to keep us in the dark for 13 years" Delphini tells Mattheo. "13 years where we didn't even know our full names, we didn't know our parents names, we didn't know what day we were born" Delphini tells Mattheo. "Or even that our parents were British".
Turns out their birthday is December 31th. Reagan would never let them celebrate their birthdays, and wouldn't even tell them when it was.
"I'm glad that we know now" Mattheo smiles. "Before, we didn't even know who they were, we didn't know anything about our mother and step-father. We still don't even who our real father is. I like to know that they wanted us. I just want to know more about what they were like. What parts of them did we both inherit?" Mattheo tells Delphini.
