A/N: media: video "Half of my Heart" duet. Sorry for the screaming, but it was the only video that you actually could hear Taylor.
And another on of Taylor's drawings. Credit goes to the original artist. Enjoy! :)Taylor's eyes widened and her mouth dropped when John led her into recording studio.
He smiled. "I told you, I would take you on a date unlike any other."
Taylor, still in awe, said nothing as she wandered around the room looking at the sound board, and instruments. "How were you able to-" She changed her question "Do you have a record deal?"
John gave a sheepish smile. "Kind of. I have a development deal. But I'm pretty sure if I can finish this one song I might be able to convince them to let me release an EP. Anyway I remember how you said you wrote songs to, so I figured to heads are better than one, right?"
Taylor gave him a wide-eyed stare for a moment or two before smiling. "Okay. Let's get started." She walked over to the corner of the room, grabbed the acoustic guitar and sat down on the small leather sofa. "What do you have so far?"
John grinned and sat next to her; he grab the electric and started strumming.
"I was born in the arms of imaginary friends
free to roam, made a home out of everywhere I've been
then you come crashing in, like the realest thing
trying my best to understand all that your love can bring." His voice began to falter and just the strumming of the guitar could be heard then stopped completely. "I know the rhyme and a few lyrics but it's just not coming together." He strummed a few chords and sung some rhythms, but the clear words were Half of my heart's got the right mind to tell you that I can't keep loving you.
Taylor payed close attention to the lyrics, chords and rhythms; she believe she had a fairly solid idea of what John was getting at. "What about," She began so strummed the acoustic.
"Half of my heart's got a grip on the situation
Half of my hear takes time.
Half of my heart's got a real good imagination
Half of my heart's got you
Half of my hearts got the right mind to tell you
What half of my heart won't do."
Now it was John who stared in shock; the girl with baby blue eyes and blonde corkscrew curls really had surprised him. Honestly he expected her to be a decent singer, but song-writing was a tricky process which was different for everyone. Yet Taylor seemed to pick up on his style quickly and was able to fill in the gaps after him only playing the song once.
Taylor was fiddling with her hair, bitting her lip. John released he said nothing of what he thought. "It's...uh," he fumbled with to find the right words. "impressive."
Taylor smiled and averted her eyes; she never was used to receiving and accepting compliments. "Thanks."
"Who taught you to write and play?" He was genuinely curious.
"I taught myself to write and play." Taylor confessed. He was unable to hide his admiration.
"Amazing job." He told her truthfully. "Both sing, playing and writing."
Taylor's eyes did not quite meet his when she told him "Thanks." once more.
The rest of their date was spent passing a melody back and forth, adding a few chords here, and changing the rhythm there, eventually they finished the song.
