Saturday part 2 electric boogaloo
1) What the wings with guidelines look like on our little friend here. I don't yet know what I'm using to create the skin between the wings (either I'm going to sculpt them with filament, which will mean pulling up my bat references again, OR I could find a cool material that I can paint and attach to the filament which will create all the folds naturally, saving me work and enabeling my laziness).
2) Another view of the wings. Until I figure out how exactly to do them, they're staying in this skeleton-like form.
3) When I sent this picture to my friend, he said it looked like it was about to walk away. It really does!
Also one of my images disappeared, I don't know where, and it's 11 pm so I'm not digging around for it. It was just how I started tracing over the guidelines of the tail, which is stuff you've seen before. Time for the glamour shots!!!
Again, sorry for the rotation...
Next episode:
First, I need to figure out how to create the frills. If it's possible to make hinges for them, what to make it out of, how to hide it, etc. Or I could save time and make it out of the filament, which would also let me draw the scales on. Maybe, if I use some kind of fabric, I could layer my paint on really thick to create the scales that way.
Next, I need try to figure out what mixed media to bring in. I need paint that will react to UV light, if such a thing exists, and if not I can find a nifty UV pen and work with that >:) I also need something for the wings, and maybe fabric paint if my earlier spur-of-the-moment idea has any merit. We'll see...
I'm also considering using real feathers instead of sculpting them, which will give the creature a real look that I couldn't achieve otherwise. I'm likewise considering using actual imitation fur for the chest, I just don't know where to get it. I might have to buy a stuffed animal and dissect it for science purposes, but,,, the thought hurts me >-<
I also need to scrounge up wood for the base, find some prop moss and ferns and then I'll be ready to continue! (Aquarium stores here I come, they got the best fake plants)
Until next time, this has been Thunder!
Thank you and good night!
