WHILE BELLONA DALLIED OUTSIDE OF THE GOLDEN CITY, A GOD AND A GODDESS MET WITHIN CAELUM'S WALLS. Minerva, divine wisdom, had grown tired of her crafts, of her reduction within the pantheon. With Jupiter's idleness while humanity rose and fell before them, she saw the need to go beyond the king. She called upon Morpheus, dreams in their infinite capacities, to create a new species with her. Not to be humanity's salvation, but to stand apart from it, a shining example of what Jupiter's children were capable of on their own. She hoped it would curry favor within the pantheon, increase the severity of her station and responsibilities. She gave to them a piece of her mind, her most prized possession. Morpheus provided a small part of his essence, an indigo aura that would follow them into their realm. The pair joined their chosen artifacts, forming an entirely new species they christened faeries. The Fair Folk, also known more commonly as Fae, resided in a realm apart from humanity, called Sethos. It was known as the silver city, second only to the greatness of Caelum. It was a cracked mirror image, perfection and deception curled around each serrated arch. Spiraling thorns and forests spanned the land, and a lake so clear it was nearly glass sat in its center, near the dark palace of the newly crowned royal family.

The Falors were the first royals, and the crown has passed from generation to generation through their family. The original queen, Anwyn Falor, was known as The Dark Queen, The Queen of Thorns, The Night's Wrath, Queen Anwyn The First, and Taerna, meaning 'This Hell' in the language of the Fey, Velorian. Her reign lasted longer than any rulers, spanning a whole millenia before she was finally unseated by her brother, King Hathor The Damned. The crown passed down the line, briefly stopping upon its most ferocious head, Avalon Falor. She was said to have been even more powerful than her ancestors combined, and it was that power and her lust for it that destroyed her. Still, she was titled Queen Avalon The Merciless, as her reign was the bloodiest in all of Sethos's history. She was known to be ruthless, wholly uncaring of any life but her own, with a particular hatred and disdain for mortals. She was also known as The Blood Queen, The Queen Of All Hells, The Scythe Of Night, and Etios, meaning 'Hell Itself' in Velorian. After her fall from grace and fiery destruction, the nobility intervened and placed her cousin, Queen Leyla, on the throne until. She ushered Sethos into a new era of peace, and her only son inherited every ounce of her goodness and grace. He rules Sethos in the modern era, and his three children have come of age. The tradition of succession is a longstanding one, as it has only ever been broken by extenuating circumstances. A trial by combat determines the next ruler; it is meant to ensure only the strongest ascend to the throne. However, before their trial could commence, it was discovered that a priceless artifact, the Stone of Minerva (Io Orana) was missing, the source of all Fae power and the lifeforce of Sethos itself. It houses the original sliver of her mind within a silver crystal, outlined in Morpheus's essence. With the notice of its presence in Avellen, the king and his children left their crumbling realm in the hopes of saving it and their way of life once more.
