Kelly's pov: the past weeks have been pretty good about two weeks ago. Me and Stella helped mend a mother and daughter relationship that has been troubled since the father died. Four months ago. Today is a shift day. Truck in squad got called to a fire at a jewelry store once the fire was out, we were able to get a victim out the owner all the sudden showed up and started causing some issues.

K= we're going to need this area cornered off the entire debris it's filed
PW= are you kidding me were finding bits of glass half way to Willis tower
K= what do you want me to tell you any clue to how this started would have blown out the window with everything else fire is going to want to collect it
RD= oh my God oh my God look at this
S,K= hey hey whoa, sir
RD= that's my store
S= I understand but it's an active fire scene
RD= what happened
K= there was an explosion and an employee of years and older guy was transported to Chicago med with second-degree burns
RD= but these windows were full of jewelry
PW= looters got here before we could
RD= no, no come on. Hey hey enough with the water already
H= fine if you don't mind the fire, relighting
PW= oh, I take a bath so let's go
RD= you have to stop them
PW= I'm sorry there's nothing I can do
H= I'll tell you no good deed

We all head back to the fire house after a little bit and I start doing my paperwork and I look into things

VM= severide
K= Vanmeter
VM= she is not here
K= who's not
VM= Seger she's at a fire science conference in Baltimore. I guess she didn't think I was short handed enough
K= you take a look at the jewelry store
VM= yeah only a quick one for now just filled it up. Posted a squad car outside any gut instinct
K= it looks like the blast was centered in the industrial ultrasonic cleaning tank most kind you can't use a flammable solvent, or the high voltage ignites the vapors, and it causes an explosion that could be what happened here
VM= yeah maybe I don't know I don't think it's that simple ( pull something out) that's high-grade laminated security glass a tank full of solvent might put on a real fireworks display but it's a low pressure deflagrating  type explosion to shatter half a dozen sheets of this stuff that takes a full on detonation supersonic shockwave
K= so what are you thinking?
VM= I don't know but I mean might have kicked off the Blast but it had to be a chain reaction with some kind of high explosive device. Yeah this wasn't somebody misleading the label on a bottle of cleaning solution this blast was intentional.

I agree with Van Meter  so we both decide to head to Matt to ask the old man that we pulled out of the fire some questions

K= so you were the only one in the store at the time
G= that's why I usually come in about an hour before the retail stuff
VM= are you the store manager?
G= I am the jewelry maker I craft new pieces we store old ones engagement wings are my specialty
VM= and you clean these pieces in an ultrasonic tank
K= you said on the scene that you weren't using the tank this morning
G= that's why but you got me worried maybe I left it on last night I don't think I did. Oh I hope I didn't but it's been hectic around the shop so maybe I got distracted
K= why has it been so hectic?
G= mr. DiMarco, but in a big shipment of diamonds last week the biggest I've seen and I've been with the store 10 years it's up to me to sort them grade them document them for the insurance company. Did you find the stones?
K= the diamonds know, but the safe is intact
G= they weren't in the safe first thing every morning I pull out the gym tray and lay them out on the workbench
VM= that's standard practice just leave them out all day
G= the workshops, pretty secure at least it used to be
K= so you just left them the diamonds in the trays
G= yes, sir well, I didn't lift the lid to check, but they were in there last night when I left
VM= were you the last one out?
G= um no, that would be Mr. DeMarco

We just leave his room

K= some pretty dodgy timing, right
VM= big shipment of diamonds arrives right before a mysterious explosion  sense, Jules, flying on Walbash, yeah, we better look into the store owner
K= when does Seger get back?
VM= not soon enough can you step in on this one?
K= yeah, you bet
