Won't Be Joining Me

I sit here waiting for when you'll come home

But I'm right here watching all alone

You told me you'll be back at half past two

But you left me here, thoughts askew

I made your favorite dinner

And I made your favorite tea

I even left you the empty seat

My heart denies that you won't be joining me

My head rejects that you can't remain and be

I'll sit here until you come back

And I get to see you

Then I'll cut you some slack

You went to grab some necessities

You went just to take care of my needs

I should have stopped you

Or told you to wait

But I went out and opened the gate

You cared about my every frustration

You made my heart melt at ever vocation

I took advantage of your heart

I took advantage of your time

And I can't pay it back with a silver dime

Now I'm forced to wait for your return

But I still can't face the truth

Because it burns
