Vivian entered the cold-but-full chemistry lab without sparring the other students a glance and she went straight to a vacant seat. Despite her sudden appearance, the guy that sat next to her kept his frozen composure up until he turned to face Vivian as she placed her book onto the desk.

The boy's eyes widened slightly and he quickly turned back to the front. Vivian noticed his sudden jumpiness yet she ignored him, keeping her gaze at the teacher that entered the lab to start their lesson.

Everything was pretty mundane and Vivian had thought the lesson to be quite easy; she had raised her hand at almost every question that was asked and at one point during the lesson, she had even corrected the teacher on a certain term. 

One part of the people within the class were impressed by her memory while the others were annoyed by the new goody-two-shoes' behaviour, the boy that sat next to Vivian however was part of those that were in awe; he pressed his cheek onto one hand as his other arm rested on the table, watching the way the girl beside him takes her notes, somehow maintaining a neat handwriting despite moving her hand as fast as lightning.

Vivian noticed the way he was staring yet she continued on writing as she asks; "Do you need something?"

"Hm?" The boy blinked at her question, "Oh no, i'm just- uh- you're absolutely killing this class."

Vivian smirks at his words, "Is that meant to be a compliment?"

"Um.. Hopefully?" He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, earning a chuckle from the girl as she finishes her notes with a single dot. Vivian closed her book and turned to him, now with a smile, "Well, i'm flattered to hear-"

"I'm Ajax, by the way-" The boy blurts, cutting Vivian's sentence and taking the girl by surprise. It's a pet peeve of hers whenever someone cuts her sentences, but due to how tense the boy seemed, Vivian just lets it slide with an awkward chuckle, "I'm Vivian, Vivian Euphemia."

"Glad to be an aquaintence of the Chem-Whizz" Ajax grins, slowly warming up to Vivian as she shook her head with a warmer smile, "No need to be so formal with me! It sounds weird-"

"Miss Euphemia and Mr. Petropolus!" The teacher calls, taking both of their attention as he continues with a forced, bright smile, "Since you both like to talk in class so much, how about you two become partners for this week's project?"

Despite the class groaning from hearing the dreaded word, Ajax and Vivian simply turned to each other with a grin and a nod to their teacher.

"So like," Ivory walks in with her iced strawberry milkshake, sitting next to Adam just by the pillars where they could see the other students at the courtyard, "Monsterology may or may not have become my favorite subject."

"Yeah, i could tell.." Adam hums, his gaze fixated on a certain blonde girl that was sitting with the Fur clique, she was trying to get Wednesday to talk to her friends yet the girl just kept her grim stare as Enid's friends simply shrugged and talked it off.

"We learned about a certain type today; The Hyde." The girl explains, her legs bouncing up and down as she read through her notes with one hand, "If you've seen or at least have heard about Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, it's kind of like that- they're a lone entity that shares an identity between one thing and another"

"So.. like human and monster?" the boy asks, still staring at Enid as Ivory shrugs with a nod, "That's basically it."

"Guys!-" Vivian smiles as she walks up to them, but then her smile drops into a look of confusion as she looks around the place, "Wait- where's Deirdre?"

"I thought she was with you?" Ivory asks, turning towards Vivian with a raised brow. After a bit, Vivian remembers where her friend could've been and she began to giggle. Apparently, that was enough to grab Adam's attention away from Enid as he and Ivory gave Vivian a baffled stare, asking, "Now- what's up with you?"

"Oh it's nothing, it's just- I remember that Deirdre now has a 'boyfriend'~" Vivian sneers as she watched Deirdre and Xavier walking towards the bewildered trio. The short girl seemed to be shocked at what the boy had told her and she almost didn't notice her friends until they called her over.

Deirdre freezed in her tracks the moment she heard her name and she turned towards her friends. Excited, she grabbed Xavier by his wrist one more time and the boy simply follows her along with a delighted smile on his face.

"So Dee," Ivory starts with a slight smirk on her face, "Mind giving us an intro?"

"Right, so um-" Deirdre lets go of Xavier's wrist and gestures him to her mates, one-by-one, "Guys, this is Xavier, we met during fencing class. and Xavier, i'm sure you know Vivian- and that's Ivory and Adam."

"Good to meet all of you," Xavier smiles at the trio and they simply returned the smile. Deirdre then remembers what he had told her and immediately perks up with a rumor; "Did you guys know that there's a literal monster running around the forest near the academy?"

"I bet it's a hyde" Adam quipped, nudging Ivory with his shoulder as she simply rolled her eyes at him, "Don't joke about it, you never know."

"I mean- we don't know what it is so.." Xavier shrugs, "You could be right but then at the same time you could be wrong." 

After earning an approving nod from Ivory, their conversation continues with speculations of what the group thinks the creature could be, as well as denial and reassurances of their theories being absolute bonkers..

Or so they thought..
