The next morning, I woke to find two beady, black eyes staring right at me from behind a tree near me. The thing creeped out from behind the tree and could see it much more clearly now. It had large, furry ears, a long neck and legs, connected to a sleek brown body. Its wet, black nose twitched, and both of its ears pointed in my direction. It was like a mix of a dog and a horse. It was nothing like anything I have seen before.

I was so entranced that I did not notice the rustling in the bushes behind me. I sat up to go and pet the beautiful creature.

"Hello?"

The sudden noise startled both me and the dog-horse, and it bounded away until it was out of sight. I turned around quickly and saw a figure crouching in front of me, but I couldn't make out what they looked like, through the tears forming in my eyes. They must of come to take me back home.

"Oh, no no no no no! Please don't cry. I only want to help you."

They wiped the tears from my eyes, and I could see that it was a girl.

"Come on, let's get you cleaned up." She smiled, something I haven't seen in a long time.
